I was in a conversation with some extended-family members (a contentious bunch) and the subject came up of the type of weather we were having on a particular day in a specific location several months ago. Had to do with a "freak" windstorm that most of us remember. Someone decided to argue that it was on a different day, etc. etc.
If I wanted to verify this information, right down to the hour of the day, is there a website that might give it to me? Like within a 2-mile radius, or zip code maybe, of where it occurred?
Someone needs to be brought down a few pegs and it ain't me because I wrote it in a diary...but she still doesn't believe me.
Thanks!

I think that might do it. We were debating whether it was a Saturday or Sunday, and when I checked Saturday, I was more or less proven right because it had rain, thunder, and maximum wind gusts of 34.5 mph out at Lovell Field which is close enough. Sunday only mentioned 20mph gusts and rain, and we all remember the thunder and wind.
So, neener-neener-neener to my dear sister-in-law!! ;D

Christopher,
It was between 12 noon and 4pm on Saturday 5/27/06 in the 37404 zip code. The subject came up because it was the day we moved into our house. While we were unloading the truck, a fast-moving thunderstorm came up. The wind was strong enough to break a limb off our neighbor's ash tree and slam it into our roof, detaching part of the gutter and punching some small holes in the roof, enough to allow rain to leak into the living room. Such joy...
I think the Farmer's Almanac site bolsters my argument by specifying the thunder and the wind velocity on that day. My S-I-L had all kinds of reasons why it "had" to have been a Sunday, but not only did I note it in a journal, I can dig out the paperwork for the insurance claim if I have to.
Some people will argue over anything! She's confused because it was a 3-day weekend (Memorial Day).
Wish I'd thought to wager on it!
Thanks, /r
