Woo Hoo. Yet another faded band for Riverbend. "3" Dog Night, as is standard for Riverbend, coming in without the singer who had the group's biggest hits.
Chuck Negron was the voice behind "One" "Easy To Be Hard" "Joy to the World" "Old Fashioned Love Song "Pieces of April" and shared leads on most of the others. But he hasn't performed with the group in many years. So you'll get 2 Dog Night.
Along with the Commodores who are missing their lead singer as well.
Chip is probably lining up the Pips as we speak.

Yep...which is why I go for people watching and beer drinking...
I guess Chip's bringing his cracker-jack expertise from being on the School Board to another year of Riverbend...

And then there are those who know the "real music" is on the other stages.Couldn't care less about looking up 75 feet and standing 100 yds away, where the crowd of yahoos from Pikeville and Gruetli Lager line up their lawn chairs and guard their "turf".

I wish the Riverbend website was up & running. I'd like to know who will be playing on all of the other stages.

While I would agree that most of the good bands are on the side stages, not all of the headliners are lame, not even all of the "oldies". Bachman/Cummings put on one hell of a good show, for instance. Like them or not, so did Cheap Trick. ZZTop, not so much, and they had all three members.
I'm still glad I go to see Enter the Haggis, Papa Grows Funk, Rathkeltair (RKA) and others on the side stages (plus the guilty pleasure of Rodney Carrington singing "Chuck-E-Cheese Hell").

Best Coke Stage act I've seen in years was Bob Seger. Amazing band, fantastic sound quality, and he played a great mix of hits and obscure blues covers. Put on a great show. But the truth is that Riverbend to me is all about the side stages. The list of great performers I've seen on the various secondary stages is too long to go into here (I've been going to Riverbend faithfully since '97), but I have always felt it as well worth the pin price to see even a couple of the acts every year, much less the literally dozens on great shows. Oh, and Worm - it was Tim Wilson who sang "Chuck E. Cheese Hell", not Rodney Carrington.

I might spend the least amount of time @ Riverbend this year than ever
unless they start throwing some better names out there pretty soon
I used to be a pretty big Riverbend critic,... hater, if you will,... but the festival has really taking a nice turn over the last 4 - 5 years
this year things are NOT looking very appealing to me

I go every year and have liked VERY FEW acts they bring. (Figure its bad not too with this being the biggest event here) There are plenty of smaller festivals that get better bands than some of the crap FOF brings to Chattanooga.

So, what bands do you like, anyway, that you think all of RB's bands are crap?

Gary, not sure Segar has ever played Riverbend. Were you thinking of Steve Miller?

I liked the Kid Rock show, but I really like the smaller stages, as well. One of the best was three years ago with Burrito Deluxe, remnants of the Flying Burrito's, under the bridge. That was cool. Here come the Mummies rocked em' good five years ago. A kid named Rob Aldridge had a good show last year.
Who would you like to see come to Riverbend?
top 3. 1. 2. 3.

Side Stage - Man... Or Astroman? Main Stage - Motorhead (no chance of that ever happening, but I can dream) Headliner - Van Halen

Hmmm, missed that entirely. Doesn't surprise me, though. Side stage acts rarely get any promo, and I was boycotting it back then because of the Tull debacle (when Ian told those rich farts to get out of those white chairs and let the real fans get close to the stage). Only getting married and my wife wanting to go brought me back.

#1: Elvis Presley
#2: Anna Nicole Smith
#3: Jesus Christ of Nazareth (not the band).
P.S. those crowds are from Delano, too. Tell by the smell....

just short of Adrian Belew (who I've seen) & Cornmeal (who I've seen and will have multiple chances to see again)
for the first time in years I am very unimpressed and actually have pre-bonnaroo vacation plans that includes a swing through the Carolina's for a ball game or two ending with Phish in Knoxville and then off to Manchester for the final weekend of Riverbend.
I hate to say this,... but for the first time since 1996 I might not even step foot on the grounds,... not b/c I'm completely hating on it,... just because I might not have time
now if a stellar act get announced soon on one of the side stages I might have to alter my plans,... but I'm not counting on it
