We are relocating to Chattanooga and are looking for a nice rental in the downtown or Northshore area. Does anyone know anything about Riverset Apartments? Would you recommend the apartments? The location is ideal. Thanks!!

Hi junethstar I have lived in North Chattanooga for a couple decades and think you'll like that area. Sorry I don't know those apartments. Meet Mikey. We take him with a lick of salt. A grain of salt isn't nearly enough.

Hey grid, why are you so afraid of admitting the truth since Coolidge is a gangbanger's paradise with Renaissance Park next to it.

We're in the park area almost every afternoon and early evening. It's safe. I would not want to be dropped off there as the 8 yr old was alone at night, however. I feel a lot safer there than I would at Hamilton Place anytime of day!

From what I can find about the Riverset Apartments, it is the apartment complex right at the south end of the Market Street Bridge. I've driven past them daily and they seem to be a nice complex, but they are located right next to Buffalo Wild Wings, across from TGI Fridays and the Aquarium and right on a major downtown road.
If you don't mind noise and lots of it, they are probably a good choice. Welcome to Chattanooga!!

Jefferson Apartments use to be affordable. Don't know what they go for now.

I had a friend just move from there because the rent on his 1 bedroom went from crazy to outright insane.

Stay out of Coolidge Park. yeah you would know, you've been there what, once?? Wrong, never been there, not once, but I've never been shot at either. If I had made my post, "try not to get shot at" would it have drawn the same conclusions?

Mikey, lets be sure to point out to someone that doesn't know better that Chattanooga is a terrible, violent city to live in. Even though you only work here and flee home miles away every day.
There are few cities with better, safer park systems.
And for the record, I almost totally agree with fftspam.

so what exactly is your point?
Is it that any thread that has a post off-topic should be locked?
Is it that if you don't have exact numbers on deposits & monthly rates you should get lost?
What if somebody added that one of the mentioned rentals didn't allow pets? Would it now be off-topic since the orginal post didn't ask about rentals that allow pets?
Do you want the participation of this message board to continue the decline it has had the last 3 - 4 years?
And I'm sure I'll get blasted (or as of recently maybe deleted) for going "off-topic" so I'll end by staying on-topic:
everything in the downtown/Northshore area proper is incredibly expensive and very nice. Just pick one.

Bryan, its not your job to decide what is or is not "on topic". The reasons for deleting a post lean more toward all the complaints concerning too much petty arguing and name calling and not enough intelligent conversation.

you are right. It's not my job. I never have tried to make it my "job." i just wondered what fftspam's point was. I still haven't figured that part out.
fftspam's post was as far off-topic as anything else mentioned in this thread. He drifts excessively off topic to crack people who are borderline off topic.

Another : “Jefferson Apartments use to be affordable. Don't know what they go for now.” So why reply? And that was not the question.
fftspam, if you had actually paid attention to what you read in the thread, you would have noticed that I was replying to SunnyKC's question directly above my response.

I thought all three replies were relevant, even if opposite. Two people pointing out opposite views of the entire area, and another answering a specific question.
However, having been in Riverset Apartments many times (I think they changed their name at some point), if you like downtown living, they're nice, with decent security, and a good location for being downtown. (Personally, I now live 40 miles from work because I don't want to live in a city.)
If I were going to live in downtown Chattanooga, The Robinson is a pretty cool building as well.

ffspam. You haven't been here that long, and I think your post was irrelevant. Why attack 5 or 6 long time posters who had positive and helpful posts?

Me and my wife will be visiting Vancouver with our 16 month old son for 3-4 nights end of May. We will rent a car and planning to airbnb. We are confused whether to stay in downtown or north Vancouver. Planning to do the touristy places and Rentals like the Stanley park, sea wall, capilano bridge, grouse mountain, Granville island and maybe if time and baby permits few more things. Our main concern is the drive from north Vancouver to Granville. I am assuming north Vancouver has decent restaurants in case we decide to take out and eat in depending on the baby's mood.
