We've had a rat terrier, lo these past 5 years. She's a sweet dog with fairly high energy. While we're out, she gets bored & has gotten herself into trouble one time too many for us to tolerate. Thus, we are looking for a new home for Izzy. She's neutered and her immunizations are up to date (even had the kennel cough vaccine this summer). If you know of anyone who can spend lots of time with this dog who likes to run, please give me a shout. We're not looking for any money, just that she'll have a good home.

If you really love Izzy, all you have to do is get another Rat Terrier. I have five of the little darlings and they had never chewed or destroyed. It like leaving a child alone, they will get in trouble.

Uncle Albert is a rat terrier that was given to us by a family with two little girls. They didn't bat an eye when they said goodbye. Albert chews pillows, the sofa, any shoes left on ground level (good luck finding those, Albert!) kleenex, potatoes, peach pits, but luckily, esp. our big dog's collar and ears. She loves it and Albert is at peace. We bought a collar that is chewproof, and it works. I know why he was free. But they are so cute! Are you telling me they don't grow out of this in a year?!

None of my Rat Terriers has ever chewed anything. They have playmates and rawhides. Not the fancy filled rawhides, the old just rolled rawhide. Bigger than you would think they could chew. Also, they are confined during the day. They have access to their water and pee pee papers. They are confined to the kitchen, hall and bathroom. There only fault is their barking. When you leave, when you come home, when you have to go pee pee, when you cough, when you sneeze. Whatever, get my message? If you want a dog that you love beyond belief, get a Yorkie. If you want a dog that loves you beyond belief, get a Rat Terrier. My oldest Rat Terrier is 13, my youngest is 4. When I die, there will be a Rat Terrier buried with me. The ashes. I love my babies and could not face life without them. Each has a different personality. But, I love those girls. Oh, all are Its. No funny stuff going on here. Got get that dog nurtured.

Ohwell, thanks for the thought but with a teenager, a gradeschooler & both of us with full-time jobs, the last thing we can take on is another pet. Everything we've tried hasn't worked and we're done. That's why we'd like to find a home for her rather than just drop her off at McCamey.

How big is your Brat Terrier??? I just might have another one. She has to be tiny. Mine range from 3 to 7 pounds. The only other answer is to get another one. They will play and be happy. With seven babies, we've never had anything chewed. They play together and love one another. Like I said, their daytime and night time is restricted when no one is home. Please, please give her another chance. How often is given the right to lick your face until she runs out of juice???

Oh, that is a bit larger than my Brats. My smallest is three pounds and my biggest is six. Wish I could help. I couldn't live without my babies.
Has he been neutered? And is he registered? I might know someone that would take him. She raises NKCI Rat Terriers and AKC Yorkies.

Is he registered? I can find a home for him. My Brats are all females and extremely small. I might know someone that would love him.

No, she's not registered (she was a stray found wandering near Brainerd Rd 5 years ago) but she is neutered. Ohwell, I really appreciate your consideration and your efforts.
Babs, I'm glad I'm not the only one with a larger rat terrier!

I have tried, but no luck. Please don't just give up. Doesn't a wet kiss mean anything? My babies will kiss until the juice runs out. I need that.
