This is an Americanized version with Daniel Craig as Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as Salander. Christopher plummer plays Henrik Vanger. Ive seen the swedish version also ... will be hard to top them.

Felix has read all three! They are good! I had the book in my hands tonight (before I read your message) and put it back down. There was a giant stack of them at the checkout at B&N. I figured that was a "red flag" indicative of pulp fiction. Sadly, the last two books I have read were "Blood Meridian" and "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time". Blood Merdian was at its core a good story, but a difficult read. The Curious Incident book was excellent, about a autistic boy solving the murder of a poodle. :-) I also read "The Road" and did not like it, but enjoyed "No Country for Old Men" (before it was considered for a movie, I am very snotty). Since I read all day at work, it is hard to enjoy reading. I will buy The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ASAP. Thanks for the heads up.

I enjoyed The Curious Incident... and then read and really enjoyed Born on a Blue Day an autobiography written by Daniel Tammet, an amazing Autistic Savant.
He describes how he sees answers to math problems and how words each have a color that make languages easier to learn, etc. Very interesting.
guess i should comment on topic. saw the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and enjoyed it but thought it could have been shorter (could have shaved several minutes by cutting the closeups of the main male character). a friend read the book and said it had about 50 pages of unnecessary exposition.

I'm just starting, "The Girl Who Played With Fire" which is 724 pages (It'll get me through Thanksgiving!)
Thanks for the review of the movie, tiarella. Every time I've seen a movie based on a book I have read, I was disappointed (The exception was the "Da Vinci Code".)
We'll see how it goes.......
