Two-thirds majority needed to pass the resolution. Voting open until Friday morning when the final decision will be made. Feel free to campaign for or against the move here in the thread.

32 views & only 8 votes? This is something we need everyone to vote in.

People come back to see the poll results, Chris, hence the higher view count

Later towards the evening the server for proboards stalls worse than the EZboard server. This is an issue that will not resolve itself unless you MAY be able to request being moved to another server, but the chances of that happening are NIL.
That'd be one of the more major issues I would consider when moving. Sometimes it takes 15 seconds for the server to respond when clicking the favorites menu to come here, while I am surfing other sites just fine with multiple open tabs.

Joe - "Two-thirds majority needed to pass the resolution."
If less than 2/3rds of the members approve, it's not a strong enough alternative.

Can you be more specific as to evening and time? I've been checking the new forum all the past week at various times of the day and night and haven't noticed any slowdowns. If there is an issue with that, I need to know now before we make any permanent move.

I doubt that it will take a week for everyone to vote on this issue, as the EZBoard forum has seen very little usage in the past several days.
Nor have I noticed any "slowdowns", Gary, and until next month, I'll be popping on and off of here at all different times of the day and night.

Not everyone visits everyday. Some folks only check in once a week or so, which is why I'm leaving the voting open until Friday. It's a big decision to move, and I want to give everyone a chance to discuss it before anything is decided.

True enough, but taking the above vote (20 of 24 voting for the move as of 7:41 PM) and taking into account that there have been less than 20 posts (by my very loose count) on the EZBoard forum in the past 5 days, I don't think it's gonna be a major issue.
And while I do agree that it is a big deal, how many of those "once-a-week" viewers/posters are in the latest edition of the Top 25?? I understand your point and empathize, but this should truly be a case of "majority rules", and IMO the majority should be considered those that come here on a more regular basis than once a week. Not necessarily daily, but at least 3-4 times a week.

I just punched in my yea. I hold nothing against EZ, I am an infrequent poster but I had a post count up a little bit in an early incarnation of this board that got erased when I changed my email addy on EZ. Of course my count was only low triple digits, nowhere near most here. I like the format of this proboard.

I tried to, but that is only possible if you have a Florida IP.
I think.
I gotta a call into AlGore about this (And the carbon footprint all this voting stuff causes) and will get back when he returns the call.

On a decision of this magnitude, I give everyone a chance to speak. If that means waiting a few days to confirm the de facto has indeed become de jure, than I don't have a problem. And this community is for everyone, not just the chatty ones.

I disagree with Mr. Stone. This format is easier to use, especially when posting replies. My vote goes toward staying with this board and discarding EZBoard.

I'm not sure if I can put my finger on it, but this system seems more inviting. And the Quick Reply feature is much easier to use than the old system.

Not sure if this is the place to ask this but on this new system how do you view New Messages only? I can see which topics have new posts but I also see posts that do not have any new posts so you have to go from page to page to see what might be new. The option is probably right in front of me but I cant seem to find it.

The new posts all move to the top of the message queue. When you go to a category, look for the threads with the tag and ignore the ones below it without that tag.

I find this forum software to be worse than EZBoard, if and only if EZBoard is working. Since it often isn't, it's a wash. The things that annoy me here annoy me greatly (like being left in the same thread after posting, rather than being sent back to the thread list). The things that are better aren't all that much better.
That said, I'm hold my vote until the end. If it looks like it will tip the balance toward staying with EZBoard, I'll have a long talk with myself and decide. If it won't matter, well then it won't matter, will it?

The sad thing about changing boards is losing all the old content. It's very fun sometimes to go back and look at old messages, and refer to them from time to time. I mean... crap... I'm going to have to go back and find all my old Scott Chase contrived photos to re-post. Nevertheless, we mustn't live in the past.
