With 20,000 seats, Finley Stadium is the biggest seating facility in Southeast Tennessee. Now the corporation that runs the stadium wants to see more than just fans of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs filling the seats. It wants to see concertgoers, as well. "What we think is a real possibility is a major concert," said Merrill Eckstein, executive director for the Stadium Corp., the company that manages Finley. The stadium opened in 1997 and seats 20,668 people, but Eckstein said he sees even more than that if concerts with seats on the field are counted. www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/mar/25/managers-look-at-concerts-as-a-way-to-maximize-use/

can't wait to see .38 special @ Finley.
here's the deal. R&B has cornered the club market. One of the most powerful promoters in the southeast (if not the country) books acts for T29, & damn near every show put on in the Pavilion (adjacent to Finley) bleeds red ink.
I like the idea of concerts in Finley Stadium,..... 10 years ago.

Bryan, Got you on the club scene; Pavilion statement makes sense, but are you saying T29 is bleeding red ink? Seems they have had a pretty good run so far. I know the players there have some deep pocket availability, but it LOOKS like they have done ok.
As far as the concert venue for Finley being some kind of "new", light bulb moment idea, I laughed when I read that. Concerts were supposed to be a big part of what Finley was going to be about when it was first pitched as a catalyst for the Southside. Anyone who was around when it opened knows after the first Monster Truck event there that ruined the field it doomed use of the facility for any event that required access to the playing surface. Oh, yeah, that and the fact the the folks who were in charge of the so-called PSL seating and stadium management at that point in time didn't have a clue....about anything...trust me...I WAS a PSL holder...it was a joke. I will give the folks running it now a much better grade for their management knowledge. And it doesn't hurt that the Mocs have a decent football team that people will come watch.

I don't have any idea if T29 is actually pulling a profit. I said that any time a promoter tries to put on an event @ the 1st Tennessee pavilion it usually fails.
my main point is Finley Stadium probably doesn't need to get in the concert business. If they want to give it a shot I say hell yeah. It's not my money. Just seems like an idea a decade too late.
