Not everyone, not even close. I'm not sure why you have chosen to extend my thoughts regarding the Koch bros to anyone I disagree with, although it is pretty typical of your "debate" tactics. Jeez, I don't even think Tsavo and LR are in league with Satan. Thanks. Rocked by the vicissitudes of an uncaring, vulgar world, tsavodiner struggled to retain the last vestiges of his humanity. The years on Devil's Island had not been kind to him, and the return to free life was fraught with daily travails ranging from questions about his looming old age to which of his three wives and sixteen children to visit that day. The absinthe no longer rewarded him with blissful sleep, and the opium pipe produced the too familiar demon-studded dreams resulting in enuresis; even the crone landlady complained her cats couldn't tolerate the smell. The days became weeks, then months, stretching into--eternity. However, LR IS The Devil.

Then why is it so hard for you to believe that the Koch's are supporting the causes they are supporting out of their belief it is the best for the country rather than just the best for Koch Industries. Have you looked into where they invest their charitable dollars? What specifically is it about the Koch's that makes you believe them to be evil?

One hopes Gus will come to his senses when he realizes that the Koch Bros/Big Money have no agenda beyond fattening their wallets. do you feel the same about george soros? is all "big money" bad or just conservative big money?

In a free market in which individual liberties are protected, doing what is best for one's own interests is what's best for everyone.

I wonder, if at 60, I have the time to go back to school and obtain the necessary mathematics and engineering knowledge to build a time machine so I can go back and prevent Ayn Rand? Although this data only goes back to 2010, I think it is instructive as to the political spend of Koch vs Soros. www.opensecrets.org/news/2010/09/opensecrets-battle---koch-brothers.html

translation: both the koch brothers and soros spend a lot of money to influence government policy. the kock brothers spend more in certain areas. soros spends more in others. however, only the conservative koch brothers seem to warrant any sort of disdain from the left.

The instructive part was the relative amount of spending. pretty much anyone here could tell you how they spent it.

There is a difference between contributing to social/political causes and contributing to political campaigns.

There is a difference between contributing to social/political causes and contributing to political campaigns. No there isn't. The advance of social/political causes are dependent upon who gets elected to office. Of course we can. That doesn't go to prove that their motivation isn't altruistic, though.

Which, even if true, does not refute my point. perhaps not, but the only difference is in what fashion the money is used to influence washington. neither fashion is worse than the other, in my opinion.

Justin, you are an intelligent person. If you truly think that any political spend is altruistic, you better get checked for early onset dementia.

I read the story on who gives to whom. I and from what I gathered is that the Koch bros are giving and working for more Libertarian issues The Cato Intitute and Reason Mag are both Libertarian organizations not some far right groups. They are very pro business groups but on social issues they believe in freedom for all. Where Soros only gives to extreme left organizations. I guess all this really shows is how people on the left really hate anybody who disagrees with them on any level is attacked as a far right with personal attacks since they cannot go head to head with the issues.

A) I don't hate. I may dislike intensely, but I don't hate.
B) I have not engaged in any personal attacks on anyone, in this thread anyway.
C) The Kochs have still spent many more times the dollars that Soros has.

Justin, you are an intelligent person. If you truly think that any political spend is altruistic, you better get checked for early onset dementia. It may not be altruism but I believe the Koch's are motivated more in what is good for the country than what is good specifically for Koch Industries. I think Charles Koch's motivation is in advancing his business philosophy of Market Based Management. Charles Koch advocates upholding values such as free speech, property rights, and progress as a way toward an organizations success. I fail to find fault in his philosophy.

You do mean in their opinion, I hope. I don't think they would spend money like that unless it was their opinion. They certainly wouldn't spend money like that based on your opinions. When you get right down to it any idea about what is best for the country is only opinion. And it might well be, especially if it can be shown that it is also benefits Private 'Possum. In Charles Koch's case he has written a book explaining how it is good for all and one of his true altruistic foundations takes at risk youth and mentors them in entrepreneurship. Again, it all boils down to opinions. A different opinion doesn't make one evil, being evil makes one evil. The Koch's are a far cry from evil. And there is a distinct difference between an Ayn Rand Objectivist and a Libertarian. While both appear to have the same legislative goals the Libertarian's primary motivation is the idea that no one has a right to the initial use of force while the Objectivist has no problem with the initial use of force if that is what it takes to meet their objective. The Koch's are more Libertarian than Objectivist.

Because I will answer questions my way. If you don't like the way I answer questions take them elsewhere.
Frankly I don't understand why you felt it necessary to point out it was their opinion. That's obvious and goes without saying unless you think that the only opinions that count are those issued by the Democratic Party. That wouldn't surprise me if you did.
That is my opinion.
