It is obvious to all but the most ardent/blind that the current president is an abysmal failure and is leading the country into possibly irrevocable harm.
Does anyone still support this guy?
Any of you big proponents of ObamaCare still want to argue how "affordable" it is? Or how it will "help the economy?"
Hate to say I told ya so, but......

Still support him proudly. Can't wait to vote for Hillary in 2016. For the most part he cleaned up that train wreck of a mess Double Yoo left. Were creating jobs, housing is rebounding. Publicly traded companies have more money on their books than ever, His vice president hasn't shot anyone in the face. My insurance hasn't changed at all. Hell yeah I'm might lead a charge to change the constitution to get him 4 more fabulous years. I love that man...

The market in record territory, winding down two wars, housing bouncing back and the richest nation on earth is going to get a health care program where insurers can't kick you off your policy because of illness or deny you because of pre-existing conditions, unemployment coming down. Yea things are pretty shitty. I voted for the guy twice and still support him. If the GOP could field a viable candidate who I thought could do better I would vote for him or her. Unfortunately the GOP is in self destruct mode with no leadership anywhere to be seen or for that matter even on the horizon.

If the word "compromise" was not anathema to the vast majority of the current crop of Republican congresspeople his job would be much easier and the country would be in much better shape.

LOL, all 4 Obama supporters have definitely given Obama four thumbs up, seems that Medicare and Medicaid haven't changed at all for the SDI, SSI, and the Welfare crowd, but as far as the working people are concerned, OBAMACARE SUCKS ASS. People in California are looking at their insurance costs rising 164%. Obamacare's roll out has been set back 1 more year by Obama's own administration, because they know that when the real deal hits and people find out what it will really cost them in the long run there will be massive job cuts and rioting in the streets. FUCK YEAH the jobless rates are going down, the 2 largest employers in the USA are Wal-Mart and a Temp Service, neither of which offer the majority of their employees health care and under the rules of Obamacare (which is still 2 years away from being fully enacted)still won't have to offer the majority of their employees health care insurance. DAMN, the rate of Americans working in full time employment now is set at 47%, the lowest it has ever been. OBAMA HAS BEEN GOOD FOR THE USA THE SAME WAY HE SAVED DETROIT!!! You think that Obama has been so great for America? Keep drinking the media's Kool-Aid and we have some job openings at our Embassy in Benghazi.

I don't live in Californy, I have a job. So really nothing has changed in our family dynamic. Of course I don't judge my worth or status by the government actions. I make my own way. I also don't need a political party or biased TV/radio talking heads to tell me how I should feel and think. Try it some times it really mellows your soul.

If you can't see that Obama is an "abysmal failure", than you're just as bad as the "biased TV/radio talking heads" media that is trying to constantly polish the turd we have as our leader. From planted distractions, to simply not covering major stories, our media outlets are corrupt/biased/agenda driven/fill in your own blank. Curious where you get your "soul mellowing" news. Or do you just live in constant denial? Honestly, I can see where that might be better. I've tried that at times too.

You can beat this topic to death but the fundamental question should be, are you better off today than you were before Obama took office ? Looking at objective data, most people are. Do I agree with all of his policies and decisions, no. He may be many things but abysmal failure is not one of them.
Conservator, please learn the difference between than/then usage.

Obama has been disappointing in many, many ways. Using the first 2 years to push through the ACA, which ended up being a piece of compromise legislation that won't help as much as single payer would have, Guantanamo Bay, Drone War, Surveillance.Drug War. There are more.
He has also presided over a bounce back on Wall Street, unemployement is down and seems to be trending lower, one war has ended(with the reckoning taking place that I predicted would happen even if we stayed 100 years), the other war ending.
America led the world down the economic hole we all fell into. Every country has tried its own way out. We are trending much stronger and steadier than the countries that tried austerity, so I would say that so far the Obama Presidency has been far from ideal, but I'd still vote for him in a second over McCain or Rmoney. That's the real issue here. The Republicans keep enabling guys like Obama to win by putting up unelectable, shitty candidates, then spend all their time stomping the floor and bitching. RUN SOMEBODY WHOSE NOT INSANE!
Truth be told, it is more "The lessor of two evils" than ever before.

Unemployment is not "down." Looking at the real numbers/objective data (as Frayne suggests) shows that the number of unemployed are the highest since 1948. Not counting those who have stopped looking for work (because they are living fairly comfortably off of the 2 year extension on unemployment benefits) is dishonest. Everyone knows that the unemployment numbers are horrible.
The bounce in anything is the normal ebb and flow of a capitalistic economy. This point is used by the left when advantageous to them (like by blaming George Bush for the downturn in the cycle) and give false credit to a president who (as many on this forum have pointed out) has little to NOTHING to do with the economy.
I am NOT better off since Obama took office----my insurance has gone UP (and not by a little bit), my wages are stagnant (and Obama's bad economy is the reason given for no pay increases or cost of living increases), unemployment continues to be at an all-time high, food, medical, and home goods costs are higher, gas prices continue to go up and down, but are still considerably higher and though the stock market is better, it is (again) inflated. This bubble will burst soon like the last time because the policies of this administration are keeping the market propped-up.
Then there's Detroit, California, and many other cities/states struggling to meet payrolls and provide services because of this "great" economy and the economic drain of the illegal alien crisis and Obamacare (which has been delayed full implementation AGAIN because of the negative effect it will have on the economy and getting democrats elected) are just going to make things worse.
To top it all off, Obama's administration has a horrible foreign policy/diplomacy record, he deserted Americans and left them to be slaughtered in Benghazi and the United States holds a faltering spot in world economics/education/military superiority. The IRS is out of control, and apparently the NSA has access to anything they want. Homeland Security is a good thing. Over-stepping lines to spy on political opponents USED to be called "bad" things by democrats. They even threatened to impeach a president for it once. Now, Obama supporters STILL blame George W. Bush for this president's failures.
I think there are far more "blinders" worn on the left, who take their news from the democrat party and biased talking heads WAY more than those on the right do. Again, another leftist tactic----keep saying something until you and those who listen actually believe the lie.
This "change" that has been brought has sucked the "hope" out of most of the country. Wake up.

The unemployment situation in our country today is directly correlated to our substandard education system which has been lacking since the 1970s. There are plenty of jobs, in fact we have to get technical expertise from off shore as we don't have the people with those skills here at home. The days of making a decent living with only a high school diploma are fading fast and that is the reality. In other words, you want a decent job, get the skills required, if you are not willing to do that don't bitch about making minimum wage.
As far as Detroit and other cities and states that are drowning in debt, how is that the problem of any POTUS regardless of party ? The mold was cast many years ago by local administrations that agreed to generous pay and pension programs for public workers that were in many cases better than those the in private sector.
Blaming Obama for the tragedy in Bengazi would be like blaming Bush for the 9-11 event, doesn't make much sense. The fact that we are getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan gives me comfort as we had no business interfering with the internal affairs of either country. We got OBL and pretty much decimated the hierarchy of Al Quida.
The facts are plain and simple, our country is trying hard to work our way out of a hole that happened during the Bush administration tenure. Was it all Bush's fault, of course not. Will the situation be turned around in a matter of 4 or 8 years, probably not. We have a democratic government composed of executive, legislative and judicial branches. Unfortunately all share some degree of responsibility for the problems of our nation.
Blaming one person or one party for all the ills, is quite frankly naïve.

I agree with the education/wages/unemployment links. Now if the left would quit giving money to people too lazy to get the required skills, we'd be on track to fixing the issue.
Detroit, et al, is the direct result of liberal policies. The pensions for public workers is but a side show to focus on the wrong problem. The POTUS promotes the same liberal mistakes for the country that Detroit & California use....so the POTUS IS responsible for causing harm to our economy and for theirs by supporting their stupidity.
The difference for Benghazi is that President Bush went to New York and HELPED the victims. Obama watched the Benghazi tragedy unfold via satellite and at least TWICE told the marines to leave the victims to die. Then Obama went to sleep, by all accounts. He then had all his staff LIE about whether it was a terrorist attack (KNOWING the truth) and argued about what "is" means rather than man up on his mistakes. HUGE difference.
Blaming one person is not what I'm doing. Pointing out one president's failures and administrative blunders is what everyone should be doing. There is nothing to rally around or for with the current administration.

I would like to point out that I did not express or imply any endorsement of Mr. Obama in my previous post. He has disappointed me greatly.
However LR, it is my opinion it is not so much "liberal policies" that doomed Detroit as cronyism, nepotism and the same sort of underhanded dealings with the taxpayers' money that has happened in good old Chattanooga, fortunately on a much smaller scale, and hopefully will cease soon or I will be greatly disappointed in Mr. Berke as well.

LR, I agree the left needs to quit giving money to people too lazy to get the required skill sets to earn a living. While we are at it the right needs to quit subsidizing business, we should eliminate the farm subsidy (why pay farmers not to produce), why give the oil industry and banks a break ? And lets really level the playing field and revise the tax code to eliminate the mortgage interest deduction which is nothing more than a subsidy for the housing industry and banks. Not to mention all the other tax breaks given to select groups that have the money and influence to write the legislation and tax code.
As far as Benghazi goes, even Bob Gates (former SOD under Bush as well as Obama) said the response to the event was correct. He also commented that many people have a comic book understanding of our response capabilities and that had we responded in a knee jerk fashion, more Americans may have been killed or put at risk, not to mention additional civilian causalities. That said the Obama administration did screw up explaining what happened, I'll give you that.
The current administration does leave a lot to be desired but I stand by my original post as the alternative would no doubt have been catastrophic with either McCain/Palin or Romney/Ryan. McCain would have us in two additional wars with boots on the ground and Romney is so adept at cannibalizing companies that he would probably have out sourced congress by now, which actually might be good. (Said with tongue firmly planted in cheek)
The right is too far right and the left is too far left and even if one side has good ideas the other side will condemn them out of hand simply along political party lines not wanting to look like they are cooperating with the other side.

Even more agreement with Frayne & TnBear. Unprecedented. Maybe the good thing that Obama's failed administration is doing is getting everyone to see that extreme views and blind adherence to a party rather than common sense is killing the country.

Yes, Republican obstructionism has made a mockery out of our elective process. Too bad they didn't let Obama trip over his own ineptitude instead of creating monumental new dilemmas for the country to contend with. And LR, I'm gratified to see that you're reading posts carefully enough to see that many of the non-rightist writers (Frayne, Tn Bear, Black Fox, etc.) can see & express faults with both sides, instead of demonizing, denigrating and demeaning anyone with whom they disagree.
