The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve CALEA accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA ®), the accreditation agency requires agencies to comply with state-of-the- art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Tuesday August 27, 2013 at 6:pm in the Commission Room of the Hamilton County Courthouse. (Comments are limited to ten minutes in length.)
Comments may also be offered to the assessment team via telephone from 2pm-4pm on Tuesday August 27, 2013 by calling 423-209-8924. Comments must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office West Annex located at 6233 Dayton Blvd. Chattanooga, Tennessee 37343 by contacting Lieutenant Max Templeton the CALEA Accreditation Manager at 423-209-8952 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 10302 Eaton Place, Suite 100, Fairfax Virginia, 22030-2215.

In the rank-and-file vernacular, CALEA, in this particular case, means CHIMPS.
Completely Hopeless In Most Policing Situations.
Kinda like a 'Mission Statement' that has realistically never seen the light of day on the ground floor at 600 Market Street for many years.
"Commitment to excellence for all citizens with fair and equitable performance"
Sounds good, but actions speak much louder than a few words. Much style, with very little substance, in the great scheme of things, proffered by HCSO folks downtown.
The citizens of Hamilton County can rest assured that, despite personal, petty, political and financial attacks by the voicers of those words against those HCSO folks that live the alleged mission statement, the citizens of Hamilton County (Excepting those citizens who serve at the HCSO!) are in good hands.
I keep trying to participate in the survey, but for some reason, it won't post my comments.
