One of the many things I miss about the Chattanooga area is the great chicken at beas down near Rossville. Most all you can eat places have just okay food (at least to me), but Beas has the best fried chicken I've had. The old Fehn's had good chicken as well, but Beas is still my favorite. When I do get back up to Chattanooga I always try and make at least one Beas run.
Anyone else eat there? It always seems crowded. In any case I remember eating there about 40 years ago and its still great.
Ken :)

My H and I tried it once last summer. As newcomers, we'd heard how great the food was, but not about the seating arrangements. We figured the next time we headed back there would be when we had a crowd. It may happen one of these days. We did like the fried chicken and the catfish was even more impressive. You're right about the crowds. It's also kind of cute how the whole crew gets out there on a Saturday morning (the waitresses in their 1950s-style uniforms) to wash the windows.

My husband and I went there for the first time a few months ago. The food is really good but sitting with strangers can be a little "weird". The day we went, there were 3 of us in our party and they sat us at a table by ourselves at first. Then another couple was seated with us. By the time we left, it seemed as if we were all old friends.
I'm thinking Bea's sounds good sometime next week. ;D

The Japanese style hibachi restaurants that I have been to will fill in a table in the same manner and not just in Chattanooga

You will never get me to set foot in Bea's. Is there a story behind this statement??? I get a feeling there is...

Yes, there is a story. No, I am not going to share it. Just trust me when I say my feet will never cross that places threshold.

The last time I went (admittedly years ago) the chicken was still good, but the sides were nowhere up to the quality that made them famous. I haven't really felt the need to go back afterwards.

Christ, it's 'Ok', but you have to have a line of credit to eat. $9 for lunch and $11 for dinner with a $2 dollar tip?
I don't need Gary's story to not want to return to the overpriced petri dish.

The first time I went there, back in high school, it cost $1! We haven't been there in several years. Wayne likes the chicken (I don't, it tastes sweet to me) and I like the cole slaw and rolls (he doesn't) - and I'm not fond of sitting with people sneezing, picking up chicken with their hands, and talking with their mouth full! I've always seen people take the fork they were eating with and use it to dig into the community dishes! If you don't want coffee or tea, you have to get your soft drinks from the vending machine.
