Market 212 is the state's first "green-certified" restaurant. Sally Moses, who runs the restaurant on Market near the Tennessee Aquarium with her mother, Maggie, and sister, Sally, said the restaurant has been working for some months toward the designation. She said the award came this month. Market 212 submitted an entry fee, then began the process of meeting the requirements. www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_106462.asp

Awesome! I'll mark them off my 'eating rotation' list immediately!

I applaud 212. It's a lunch favorite for my family will continue to be.

I am sure this will come as a huge surprise to all true forumites that this is one of my favorite eating spots. Besides the excellent food and service, 212 has always been ahead of the curve. They were the first restaurant to open at that formerly god-forsaken end of town, even before the Aquarium opened. Now they are the first restaurant in the state to be certified green. Major props to 212.

Oh yeah, Sally's sister is Susan, not Sally.

Maybe that's why the food and decor is so bland, then. Ah well--I'll never know.

I thought it was 212 Market. Not Market 212. On well, doesn't really matter, I won't be going again anytime soon. It was a really nice place when it first opened, but the last 2 times I've been there, the food was just mediocre.

Having the dumpster emptied half as much and knocking off $100.00 (plus) from the water bill every month has nothing to do with flavor and decor. We recycle 90%-ish of the packaging that comes in the door (excluding what actually touches food and obscure #s of plastic). The wine corks that aren't given to people (who make bulletin boards and such) are used as mulch. That is a lot of corks. A pig farmer comes by once a week to pick up all of the undesireable vegetable trimmings. A couple of glass artists pick through all of the (empty) bottles looking for the "interesting" ones. (Direct recycling is cool.)
I hope this isn't too trivial, and I know most people find recycling a drag, but its fascinates me to see what some people do (creatively & functionally) with things that are normally discarded. My conversation is not limited to things that are "green" and the hugging of trees. The topics of art & food are best served vocal. I'm behind the bar on Wed. nights.

I've only eaten at 212 once. It was... okay. Just that. Okay. Not great, but not bad. It just never really comes to mind when I think of eating out downtown.

It sounds like a single hand grenade tossed in this place on a busy night would clean out half the people that shop on the North Shore and knock the bottom out of the local granola market for at least two decades.
Hmm...

Actually it's more likely to mess up a lot of folks from the mountains (Lookout & Signal). And granola has nothing whatsoever to do with the food at 212. I sincerely doubt the majority of people who eat here have ever even tasted granola. Stray, I reckon you win dumbass troll of the week this week. Do you ever have anything positive to say?

Proving his last name was, in fact, 'Gore'.
(Moses Gore of the Northeastern Gore's, of course.)

He created the first VPN tunnel to smuggle his people's data out of Egypt.
"Let my people's data flow."
(Thereby laying the groundwork for a future Gore to lay down a framework of tubes, thusly creating the Intarweb and subsequent Internets.)
