HONOLULU - For many Americans, spam is a four-letter word for unwanted e-mail. In Hawaii, Spam is a beloved comfort food, with cans of the gelatinous pork bricks found in virtually every cupboard. Hoping to cash in on Hawaii's love affair with the pinkish meat product, Burger King Corp. last month began offering Spam for breakfast — going head-to-head with rival McDonald's Corp., which has been featuring Spam in the islands for years. Burger King is offering the Spam Platter — two slices of Spam nestled between white rice and scrambled eggs. The fast-food giant also offers the Croissanwich or Biscuit Sandwich with Spam. Denise Yamauchi, Burger King managing director in Hawaii, said sales have been "very good and very promising." story

Don't they realize they could market the hell out of that in Chattanooga's hinterlands?

Spam and vienna sausage have got to be the two most disgusting foods. Thirty years ago I did eat them, however!

I like Vienna sausages and deviled ham. No worse than a lot of pates. Never have cared much for Spam.
You can also get Spam sushi in Hawaii.

Stray, that will be hard to get in this area. There isn't that many burger kings left in Chattanooga. I can still remember the one that used to be in Eastgate mall back in the early 70's.

It had to have been there longer than the early 70s. I think I have a dim recall of it. If I'm not mistaken, I attended a birthday party there waaaaaay back in the day.

Yes they are, thank God. I usually bring a sandwich or leftovers from home but sometimes i need to buy lunch. For various reasons, mostly service related, I don't patronize either the McDonalds or the Taco Bell near there. The Krystal chili is usually good but they really screwed it up the other week, so much salt I couldn't finish it. The Central Parks fries have gone really mushy over the last several months so I am off them also. I liked the old Burger King futher up the road but after those two ladies were killed there it kinda put me off the place. A few notes after working near there for 11 years now.

Remember Hormel Corned Beef Hash? I used to serve it several times a week as a newly wed 30 years ago, with fried eggs-for dinner-with kool-aid. How things change..Thank goodness!

...The girl with 'Down's was slit from ear to ear, her blood like bright-red candle wax on the rubber freezer mats. No O2 depletion, you see. It was dark, and the pot of clear water in the coffee pot was boiling freely like a scene from 'Blade Runner', sans eggs.
The 'Open' sign was lit, but all the employees were dead.
...I began to check the employee schedule for the day to see how many more I could expect. There were bloody fingerprints beside it, sliding down the wall...
...It was 10 minutes into my shift.
