Hey Bill, it was Raphaels before they closed it down a few months ago. It's funny that mexicans would be running an Italian restaurant. Hopefully the food will be good.

The "Mexicans" as you call them also own Gondolier's. The same place that I think has some of the best pizza in town.

Really? Which one is that Dreamy?
The Gondolier on Lee Highway is owned by a really nice Hispanic family. They also own El Matador Mexican Restaurant in Ooltewah and I'm pretty sure the same people own Raphael's out at the four corners in Ooltewah.

My brother and nephew own 3 Five Guys,2 in Columbia and 1 in Charleston S.C. Outstanding Burger/Fries!!!! Better than Armandos/Merv's/Tubby's.

Hmm...I'll make the call on that when they open. If they can build a better burger than the 'bacon cheeseburger with every fucking thing' than the Chester Frost Armando's can, I'll be highly impressed.

Xterra, I call them what they are and I don't believe in sugar coating it. They were nice people that did ran the Raphael's in Hixson.

Maybe so, but the food sucked and the place was dirty. This post also not "sugar coated".

I also like the fact that you can munch on peanuts while waiting in line and while waiting on your food. The hot dogs are good too.

What I have heard about "5 Guys" is they are the "In n Out Burger" of the East Coast. If you've ever been in California and had an In n Out burger, then you know they are among the absolute best fast food burgers around. I understand from various sources that have tried both that 5 Guys is even better than In n Out. Being a burger afficianado, I'm looking forward to giving 5 Guys a try.

We went to a Five Guys Burgers 7 Fries today in Virginia....the place was great...We passed a few and finally stopped in Woodstock. As it was a chain I was prepared to be underwhelmed. Above and beyond anything in the fast food world. I got the fries with the Cajun seasoning. They were super crunchy with just enough spice. one of the gimmicks is to list where the potato's are from on the day you come in. They had bags sitting just inside the door and sure enough they happened to be from Idaho just like the dry erase board said. The burgers were also excellent. They kind of reminded me of the burgers that we used to get at Leonard's. They were in my opinion the absolute "gold standard" for burgers in Chattanooga. I will admit a certain fondness for the place since we never got carded so it made everything about the place seem great....Five Guys will be something to look forward to. Throw Publix subs into the mix and Chattanooga will definitely have Much Better sandwich choices...

Just to throw fuel on the fire, I think Geno's had the best burger in Chattanooga.

got to go to the invitation only preview of Five Guys tonight...very good food...fries were amazing! The burger was good and juicy, and unlimited toppings choice for no additional charge. A large order of fries fed 4 people with some still left over. definately a place to return to...

Hey Halk, do you know where Captian D's is on Hixson Pike? It's on the same side of the street as Cpatian D's and it's right next door from it.

Had lunch there today... EXCELLENT fries, even the regular size serving is comparable to anyone elses "biggie". Good burger and very friendly staff.
I think we need to have a Notta lunch or dinner there eventually.

If we do Red, I can talk to the management there (I have connections)...since the place is not that big inside, we may need to reserve it or something...let me know

Thanks FKL, but I've actually met both of the owners already, (super nice people). And if we did do one there we do call ahead anyways, can't really reserve a restaurant like that, but considering the size of our Notta lunches (or non-alcoholic dinners) as of late I would expect a smaller group and nothing to panic them over.

I ate there today. The burgers at the Chester Frost Armando's are quite superior, but the fries at 5 Guys are better.
