We always go with the traditional baked roasted turkey, but the one time I had some turducken (thanks to Caterer Michelle), it was "teh awesome!"
There, fixed that for me

We definitely need a "white meat or dark" question in here...a major issue between the in-laws and myself. I look forward to drumsticks all year, with just the right amount of crackly skin....and then they turn around and do just a breast, saying "Well no one likes dark meat anyway..."
Grr. (Please, no silly jokes...this is about food, people...)

Baked turkey breast (no one here likes the dark meat) and usually I do pork tenderloin as well.

My Mom and sisters always have a large spaghetti & home-made meatball dinner....and we're not even Italian. I prefer the traditional fare but you MUST have sweet potato casserole, or it's just not Thanksgiving.

I prefer to call it "roast" turkey, not baked. We will also have a fried turkey. And thanks to Tookie (I think!), one of my new favorites to have at Thanksgiving is hominy casserole.

Meh.....not sure really.Hubby has to watch his cholesterol which basically screws up most things one would eat around that time of year-at least according to him. Odd the one time poopsy is out of town and I don't have to avoid things that make her gassy etc (the horror) he's got cholesterol issues. When I come up with something I'll let you know

I voted turkey cause of the turkey and dressing thing. But it is also the only time I get my aunt's fried brussel sprouts. Man, I love those.
Xterra, I did give you that recipe and I like it a lot too. I got it out of a cookbook I picked up in Phoenix.

Yeah, that should have been "Roasted" and not "Baked".

Same old roasted turkey every year. *yawn* I keep seeing Martha Stewart showing how to cook a turkey after soaking it in a brine with spices... Sounds FANTASTIC... but I never get to cook for Thanksgiving... I always just have to deal with whatever my in-laws cook. It's always good... but never interesting.

I am not a fan of turkey but, can't get anyone to change and try something new. I usually just have a tiny sliver of turkey to be polite. It keeps me running to the bathroom.........I know TMI
I do load up on dressing, sweet potato casserole, Broccoli Casserole, and squash casserole though.

Clifty Farms has a new honey baked country ham that we are trying this year. I can't wait to taste it.

You might want to re-think what, exactly, keeps you running to the bathroom.....

LOL so true about the casseroles but, it happens no matter what the extras are. I avoid sandwiches with turkey too.

My cousin made one last year, don't know if he's doing it again until we meet for dinner Thursday night.

I cook the family turkey..they are not brave enough for turducken...
I brine the whole turkey overnight and roast it the next morning...I have done it every way imaginable and I always go back to the brine. It's the best.
The only different (non traditional) thing I am making the fam this year is a
"pumpkin and Foie Gras Pudding" it's savory (of course the foie) and probably no one but me will eat it, but I am a sucker for anything "fattened goose liverish"
