Man shot, killed by police officer had previous traffic-related arrest
By TYRONE TONY REED JR. ttreed@jacksonsun.com A Madison County man who was shot and killed Saturday afternoon by a police officer during a traffic stop had been arrested last year for traffic-related violations, according to police records. Frazier L. Ellison, 34, of 164 Love Road, was cited for speeding and was charged with driving on a canceled/suspended/revoked license last year, records show. But, when he was stopped on Saturday because of an alleged seatbelt violation, what could have been another citation ended up being a fatal shooting. Officer Maria Christina Hasz, a five-year veteran with the Jackson Police Department, shot and killed Ellison, who she said grabbed her gun, according to a police release.
