I'm serious. Would it get me into trouble if, say, I was pulled over for some reason? I'm thinking that if a few people would have had a taser last week the mass murderer wouldn't have had such a large body count.

If it is, it sure as HELL shouldn't be...Hell if you go threw all the hoops to purchase a real firearm legally(not to say Tazers aren't real) you should be allowed to carry it where ever the frak you want!!!Sure people will say 'then there will be more senseless killing', but think about it...would you pull your weapon with the intentions of doing a little ultra violence when you know full well that there is a real good chance that as soon as you do you'll be a pencil (full of lead)...you buy it with the knowledge that you will be held responsible for your actions with this equipment...Vermont carry for everybody...

TCA 39-17-1302. Prohibited weapons (a) A person commits an offense who intentionally or knowingly possesses, manufactures, transports, repairs or sells:
(1) An explosive or an explosive weapon;
(2) A device principally designed, made or adapted for delivering or shooting an explosive weapon;
(3) A machine gun;
(4) A short-barrel rifle or shotgun;
(5) A firearm silencer;
(6) Hoax device;
(7) A switchblade knife or knuckles; or
(8) Any other implement for infliction of serious bodily injury or death that has no common lawful purpose.
(1) An offense under subdivision (a)(1) is a Class B felony.
[Acts 1989, ch. 591, § 1; 1990, ch. 1029, §§ 2, 11; 2001, ch. 375, §§ 3, 4; 2002, ch. 849, § 5; 2006, ch. 798, § 1.]A taser would probably fall under subsection (8). If one were to pull a taser on a law enforcement officer, then deadly force could be applied. As in each instance, the totality of the circumstances would be the basis for any charge. Personally, I would rather be tried by twelve, than carried by six........ This is in no way intended as legal advice, merely my personal opinion regarding your question. I speak only for myself and for no law enforcement agency. ****Note: there may be a specific TCA law regarding the possesion of tasers, but I did not have the time to research it.

If one can carry a pistol, I would assume one could also carry a taser - if one goes through proper channels, whatever those are.
Nukes, on the other hand ...

Unless you constantly drill for threatening situations and how to react to them as our LE friends do, chances are you'll be sitting there in shock- not grabbing up whatever weapon you have in your purse or pocket or holster- if someone bursts into a room and starts firing. Or your brain will be instantly figuring how to get the hell away. When it comes to fight or flight, without a lot of training the first reaction is flight.

I wouldn't consider it a Subsection 8 issue, myself. Mace or Tasers in a womans purse/mans coat strike me as 'reasonable', which usually defines the laws. Silencers and sticks of dynamite, sadly, do not seem as such, and I think that's what that particular Code was aimed at.
You'd be fine with one...but I'd stick with the Mace. OC spray that is, with a percentage of .10 or higher wherever you can find it. More reliable, more effective, more likely to be used, more natural ingredients, fewer side effects, and most importantly requires the LEAST CONTACT WITH THE OFFENDER. Distance is relative to danger, and Tasers (you're obviously talking about the handheld jewels made famous by Bruce Willis in 'Color of Night', not the $900 probe-shooting bastards police carry) require direct contact.
By all means though, if you want a weapon that requires running up as if to hug your assailant, everybody has their little 'quirks'.

Thanks guys. I don't constantly drill for bad situations but I try to always be aware. I've had 2 pretty good self-defense classes and practice what I did learn.
I believe in avoiding danger but sometimes, as in the school shootings, you can find yourself totally helpless. Truthfully, if someone is close enough to grab me, they'd better watch out!
Where is the best place to find pepper spray and such. I don't trust the flea market stuff. I've had the little keychain attachments. Good tip on the distance spray. I'm going to find some.

Seriously, call GT Distributors to see if it is legal for you to swing by and buy some. We use the 'Def Tech' brand as it is not flammable*.
(*Funny story, that.)
