Those cable-spool tables were handy for turning over and hiding under when gunfire broke out!

Anyone remember the Buchaneer on Lee Hwy? There is a gay club there now.

Where was that Wooden Nickle, JiT? That names rings a bell. Either that or I got my bell rung there once. It was on Brainard Rd. across from Eastgate, I think. I know it was on the opposite side of the road that Eastgate was on but it could have been up around the Lee Hwy/Brainard Rd. junction. I don't know. I was drunk when I was there.

LR, a new business license for MEMO's was issued within the last few weeks. Don't forget the Half Note and the Retired Men's Den!

Mine are similar to Tookies. Haven't been in a Bar in years unless it is a restaurant with a bar but, would also add from the past The Brew and Cue Ruby Tuesday's on brainerd on the hill Wranglers Chattanooga Billard club downtown and other one brainerd beach club

When they closed the Sports BArn bar for remodeling about 15 years ago, we went to the Dew Droop Inn. Nice people! (Really!)

Mmmm, I think SunnyKC first mentioned Scrappy's - my first time there was with a highschool group after doing the SAT thing at UTC. Hell, I figure we got served 'cause we had real Catholic schoolgirls in uniform with us.
Now pre-Parkway Billiards there was Miss Kitty's. Take a bunch of drunken frat boys from Yesterday's and watch them stagger into a gay bar. Much hilarity ensued - a lot of fights along with a couple of ΚΣ & ΣΧ converts...
Oooh, what about The Palamino Club off Rossville Blvd? Now that was a fun place. Just ignore the knife fights in the parking lot and order another pitcher of beer.
Ground Zero on Cherokee Blvd. was damn amusing too - punk rockers and rednecks. For the record that was the pre-meth Cherokee Blvd... the good old days of weed and liquor.

I went to the Night Haven once. That was enough.
Also made a trip to the Classic Cat on Main way back then.
Geeze, that had to be on the late 70's.

I never went into the Retired Men's Den...the Half Note seemed half-baked to me. If you could ever get in, The Whole Note USED to be the hoppin' place on 9th Street (or so I'm told). My journeys into the place were more business related, but the staff was generally helpful and not wanting too many of my co-workers to join me, they cooperated quite readily.

The only time I was in the Whole Note was during the Bessie Smith Strut. Very strong drinks! I remember Parker Smith talking a lot about Memo's bar-b-que winners on talk radio years ago.

Okay. I have my memory cap on. The Wooden Nickel was in a small 'plaza' where Michaels used to be until it got torn down last month. There was a Merle Norman Cosmetics, Wooden Nickel and a 3rd business which I can't remember. These businesses weren't all facing Brainerd Rd. Only the Wooden Nickel faced Brainerd Rd. Seems there was a wooden wagon wheel in front. Now on to Parkway Billiards. It started out as Alan Golds, then Paty's Place. I don't remember Miss Kitty's. And yes, The Whole Note started out as a top of the line club for R&B entertainment and the Half Note was private for the who's who's in African American businessmen and politicians. Charles Bryant was the owner. LR, I suppose you and your co-workers were not the most welcome guests under the circumstances, but the drinks were very strong. The Lower Deck that I recall was across from the Comedy Catch, on the back side and down under a day time business. Long time ago, folks!

Does anyone remember the Night Deposit? And the Blacksmith Shop in an old warehouse on Broad Street, ran by a large white guy named Virgil who also had a club beside the Panoram aka Belmont Club on Lookout Mnt?(across from Ruby Falls). Does anyone remember the Back Nine on 8th st? or Mr. Toad's? Last but not least, does anyone remember Dino's? edit: spelling

That disgusting den of iniquity? That vile cesspool of drugs, prostitution and depravity? Well, I might have wandered into it once or twice... er, maybe a bit more than that. But I was in Highschool and it was cool being able to get into a titty bar... ...and I maybe went a time or two during the college daze. It's not like I was on a first name basis with the chick at the door (usually Rose) who took your cover charge. I certainly didn't know Nikki who was working her way thru Chatt State, or Nicole with her fake French accent... So no, I deny ever being there.

Good answer. Barry Oliver denied ever being there to Saint Peter, but it didn't work.

(near the epb building) ? Dino's, as I recall, was S Broad close to where Wendy's is now, possibly where the motel still stands. The only one I don't recall is Mr Toads. The others I have frequented, but it was by use of a passcard like LR's.

Skiptracer, among other bar references, cited: Virgil who also had a club beside the Panoram aka Belmont Club on Lookout Mnt? The 19th Hole, that was, with a band and gambling, as well as a bar where underage me could get a drink. I thought it was owned by a gentleman named Wolensky.

I don't know Virgil's last name. Yes, the Blacksmith Shop was on Broad St. It looked like a warehouse on the outside. It was open after hours, on weekends only. Mr. Toads was in N. Chattanooga, maybe off Hixson Pike. Does anyone remember the High Hill Sneaker?

Don't know about cut and shoot, but yes, a mostly black good time house with some through down fried chicken wings. One of the cooks can still be heard on urban radio.
