Jamaica, last October. Negril to be exact.
I'd make myself sad now to tell you how wonderful it was...
And gosh, the local flora is astounding...

San Antonio, TX was it this past October? I think so, but, maybe it was the October before. Beautiful city...would love to go back. Now that both my husband and I have fairly new jobs I guess it will be a while before we can go anywhere physically and financially.

I took a week off back in November but didn't travel. Last year I went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and had a hell of a time. I don't suspect that I'll be getting much time off in the near future with my new job, but I feel like I'm on vacation because I'm having so much fun.

A cruise to Key West and Bahamas. Two years ago April 13. But I am leaving this month, April 28 for a vacation in Orlando. A free vacation. These are the best kind. Free vacation??? How do I get one too? I sure could use one pretty soon How hard did they twist your arm to buy into that time share condo?

A real vacation? Not lately, but in the last 3 weeks I've been to Minneapolis MN, Denver CO, Casper WY, Houston TX, and Lake Charles along with New Orleans LA. Work days have been short so Joni and I have had a bit of 'play time' mixed in with the drudge work. I thought I might be in Mexico this weekend, but that got cancelled at the last moment. All in all I'd say it's been a good 3 weeks letting some one else pay for my play.

Park City, Utah the week after Christmas.
Ringleman, you and I probably pass in airports. I am all over the map on a regular basis on business.

No arm twisting. My brother did it. He is big in to that stuff. I just reaped the rewards. This has been a very hectic year. I retired and my family thinks I am a free taxi and slave. I have worked harder since I retired than I did when I was employed. He felt sorry for me and offered a peace offering. He will retire at the end of the year and then he can be the designated slave and taxi driver.

I take a vacation EVERY year, even if I go on a tour by myself, and most times try to make it out of the country. Last June I had company in Jamaica for a week. ;D And a few months before that I was taken to NYC for a long birthday weekend. I'm now starting the planning stage for this year's trip, but we may need to do a long weekend some where close since I read that someone NEEDS a vacation...

Per definition, it was last July 4th. Went to my best friend's trout farm for a long weekend and annual celebration. I ended up staying for two weeks. Had a blast sleeping late, reading a book every two days, drinking brews by noon, floating around a local lake, campfires most nights, talking into the wee hours ....
Actually I have been on and off vacation most of the past year. Thankfully my rent is very cheap and the landlords have been gracious enough to let me continue to live there.

Gosh....those timeshare giveaways are a pain. We went to one in Bahamas that promised us we'd get some stuff if we did the whole meeting and thing. They did give us some stuff but were reneging on a few other things at the end.. They were all mad cuz we were taking advantage of 'em.. Pretty funny, actually.. It's what they promised and eventually what we got, heh It wasn't anywhere close to being a free vacation, though I bet those type of affairs are a lot longer and even harder to get them to give it to ya..... Otherwise, I'd jump on something like that I need a vacation *BADLY*

My ex and I did a time-share thingy long ago. It was in the Poconos in PA. They put us into this ratty little Bates-motel type room. It was the pits. The only decent thing about the trip was the scenery and a good cineplex nearby. On the last day, we were given the sales pitch, complete with a tour of the wonderful villas they were trying to get us to buy. We asked our salesman why we weren't given one of those to stay in, rather than the little prefab room. He asked us where we'd been put and when we told him, he laughed and said "Oh, you mean The Kennels! Does this mean you're not interested in buying a timeshare??"
a-Duhhhhhhhh...

A lot of the Russians around here buy into the timeshares and most of them that I've talked to are happy with them.

Actually I have been on and off vacation most of the past year. Thankfully my rent is very cheap and the landlords have been gracious enough to let me continue to live there. -- Vacation for a year? Holy hell, do they have room for two more?! Let me grab a few things and a backpack, hang on..
I do two long weekends a year, one in a secluded cabin in the colder half, one on a beach in the warm half. I was 'that guy' who NEVER took a vacation -- my accumulated leave at work used to be given up or donated to the Worthy, blah blah blah...until I realized that without depressurizing--even for just three days, the perfect amount of time to get away, yet not get bored or sweat the money hemorrhage--I was prone to do some 'fucked up shitâ„¢' without realizeng WHY I was doing it.
Life is short. Look at the Ocean now and then, or the steam rising from you as you sit in a hot tub on the deck of a cabin overlooking the smokies.
It's important, that 'getting somewhere with yourself' what Worm spoke of...otherwise, you turn into... Well, 'us'.
And we can't have that now, can we?

We rode our motorcycles down to Fort Benning, GA last weekend. My daughter's boyfriend is in basic training there, and got his first weekend pass. She came up with the idea of taking the bikes. After 4 hours of riding on the back of one, I think she was regretting her idea. But in the end, it was worth it to her. She didn't let on to her boyfriend that we were coming, and it was a total surprise. They hadn't seen each other for 12 weeks. She rode back with the boyfriend's family, and it rained on me and my husband for 3 of the 4 hours going home. Good thing we packed the rain gear.

Last big family vacation was August 2005- a week on Tybee Island. We usually go to Dollywood each summer for their Homeschool Day and spend a couple of nights in Pigeon Forge.
Last November I went to Key West all by myself (no hubby or kids) for my brother's wedding....

Sometimes, it's just important to GO somewhere.
And others? It's just important to remember that the ARMY picked the fucking prescription glasses, not the poor bastard that has to WEAR them.

Um, I don't think those were the Army glasses. I think he really did pick those out.
(Army glasses are black, those look brown)

Last July to a beach house in Ft. Morgan, AL. Already booked and paid for the same house this year. Not going until August Unfortunately due to some ridiculous brides thinking July is a good month to get married. Luckily, this year I will not have to close the shop since I have a fabulous new employee. He will just have to work without me.

I NEVER take vacations....
I do enjoy a series of "business trips" throughout the year like going to the Grand Canyon & St. Pete earlier this year; have plans to do the Natchez Trace & Blue Ridge Parkway on my motorcycle soon as well as a pilgramage to Falling Water, the Frank Lloyd Wright house in central PA.

It appears the Army has very, very, very slightly upgraded their eyewear since I served. Wow... brown rims. How daring!
