www.thewavemag.com/pagegen.php?pagename=article&articleid=26288TW: You do these in the style of low budget ’70s movies. So why did you set them now, with references to the Iraq War and BlackBerries? QT: The thing about it is, nothing in the movie says it takes place in a different time or it’s the ’70s. It’s simply the quality of the prints. But those prints looked like that in ’74. One of the things that’s kind of cool about this movie is we really live in a different world than the way they used to do movies back then. Now you make 2,000 prints and you release it in the opening weekend in 2,000 theaters or 3,000, whatever the deal is. Back then, an exploitation company would make maybe four prints or five prints, and then they’d open the film in Chattanooga. After Chattanooga, they’d take it to Memphis. And for an entire year, they would take those same four or six prints all around the country.

Probably just referncing Chattanooga in response to his Tennessee Roots, since he's from Knoxville. Chattanooga in the seventies was probably the smallest "big city" in Tennessee.

That's still cool to be referenced by Tarantino.

He was probably pissed they started in Chattanooga and he had to wait several months to see 'em unless he drove down,

...And if you're wondering, it's also why he referenced Knoxville in 'Pulp Fiction'.
Jesus people. Do we not Google?
