Just tried this place for the first time. It is a very nice restaurant with a semi-formal atmosphere. I really like the "paper" table cloths.
The bread w/garlic & olive oil was good, though the crust was a bit thick. I liked how it was pre-cut for easy serving.
I had the Cocnut-crusted Shrimp as an appetizer. I recommend this highly. My only "complaint" is that the dip for the shrimp was very sweet---almost too sweet, but it was good. I ate most of the shrimp without the sauce.
I chose the Snake River Trout w/mango salsa and jasmine-infused rice as the side. The fish was prepared very well, grilled with just the right amount of herb rub. I was able to eat it with a fork, and the skin came off quite easily---no mess. The mango salsa was just a touch sweet, but still very delicious. The jasmine rice was also very good---no over powering taste and it complimented the trout quite nicely.
By far, the best part of this meal was dessert! Chocolate Brownie w/hot fudge & rasperry sauces, REAL whipped cream and I believe the vanilla ice cream was hand-churned. This brownie was layered, with fudge sauce & diced macadamia nuts in between the three layers. The raspberry sauce was drizzled over the top and underneath, whole roasted nuts sprinkled on top with the whipped cream as the finale. The ice cream was on the side. Not only was this decadence delicious, but large enough for two people. It has become my favorite dessert in Chattanooga thus far, even surpassing Famous Dave's Bread Pudding.
The only thing that I found "bad" about this dining experience were the prices. If I had not been given gift cards, I don't believe I could have afforded such a large meal. The trout was $16.00, and the shrimp appetizer (6 large shrimp) was $8.00. In the scheme of things, the only thing that I thought was a good deal was the dessert for $7.00. But I'm pretty much a cheapskate, and usually spend $5.00 per meal on a sub or pizza, so my price complaint should be served with some salt.
The wait staff was slow to get the first order, but after that, ran like clockwork. Very professional and efficient. If I ever get a raise, or someone gives me some more gift cards, I will enjoy another meal there. I WILL go back just for a dessert in the very near future, however.
