I'm glad you had fun Honor.
I wasn't overly impressed with the movie. It really seemed to drag in places. Of course, I've been working my ass off for two weeks getting ready for this thing, I haven't had enough sleep this week and I was in a hot, itchy, uncomfortable costume while I watched.
Somehow, it just didn't seem to be 'worth' all the effort we put into the promo. I sure hope those who attended appreciated the HUGE amount of time, effort and cash that Northgate poured into those promos.

Scarlett, you did a great job with the decor! ;D I saw several friends and my kid brother waiting to get in for the 11:30 shows when I left and they all thought the decorations were great! I really enjoyed the movie, it didn't seem to drag to me at all. I'm definitely planning on going back to see it again.

I haven't seen Pirates 3....but I think 2hrs and 47 minutes is awfully long... Most of the last movies I've seen that are 2hrs + are drawn out too much and could easily lose at least half an hour...

StarShip Troopers (BTW) The 3rd one will be out early 2008... and it's going back to the Book (not like #2 which sucked and the return of Rico!)

Just saw 'Surfs Up'. Actually better than I thought it would be. I was shocked to notice that it was a Sony production. I would have sworn it was Pixar. The art work was on par with Pixar and the story was cute, predictable, but entertaining.

I was fairly disappointed with Starship Troopers. I wished they'd been more faithful to the book and included the powered armor suits that distinguished the Mobile Infantry from the regular army of the time period.

Oh! Forgot to mention that we say Fantastic 4 last weekend. A fun little flick. My 'sources' had mentioned to look closely at the 'fire ball' when the Surfer went to challenge Galactis... You're supposed to be able to see a shadow of his horned helm in the clouds. I saw a shadow on Saturn that looked more like it. They are trying to imply that the Giant Cloud is NOT Galactis, that he is INSIDE the cloud. I think they did this because of the HUGE number of comic fans SCREAMING in one voice that Galactis is NOT a CLOUD!!!
Other than a Cloudy Eater of Worlds, it was pretty fun. The Surfer looked GREAT. Three cheers for good CGI.

We took the grandchildren to see Ratatouli Friday. Wonderful movie!!! It's a pixel film about a rat in Paris who is an aspiring chef. The children and adults were spellbound. At an hour and 50 minutes, it is a tad long for small attention spans, but it moves quickly towards the end. It's received rave reviews! It covers achieving one's dreams, loyality, and believing. Plus, a lot of great cooking scenes. We left starving...sort of like Babette's Feast...remotely....

We liked Rise of the Silver Surfer pretty well, too. Hokey dialogue, but what do you expect?
It was fun.

It's OK, Babs. We just figure you're trying to increase your post count. ----------- Saw Transformers yesterday. Pretty good movie. I have NO CLUE if it 'stuck' to the old cartoon because I never watched it. I actually enjoyed the film even though I was pretty much dragged along behind all my 'drooling boys.' (Our group had 5 excited males from 16 to 48, me and one other slightly bored looking date.) Of course, it helped that one of my old soap stars was in it. The CGI transformations were amazing. The story line was not totally predictable, and the acting was actually quite good. (Did I mention that 'Leo' was in it? From All My Children?)

If.... Criterion Collection. Its the first in a series followed by O Lucky Man! and Britania Hospital. Anyway, Malcolm Mcdowell says that the chracter he played in Clockwork Orange originated in the work he did in If.... Droogs.

Blood Diamond .. can't decide if I liked it or hated it. Well done except that none of the 1000s of rounds fired at the hero hit him until the last 5 minutes. I hate when people run through hails of bullets in action movies and nobody gets hit!

I watched Beetlejuice again last night. I love that movie even though Alec Baldwin is in it.

HP wasn't bad. As usual, it sort of D-r-a-g-g-e-d through the first half. Picked up toward the end. The girl that played Luna stole the show. My hubby, who has never read any of the books, leaned over and said 'That girl NAILS weird.'

I have to admit this...I have never seen a Harry Potter movie nor have I read one of the books. However, my daughter wanted to see this yesterday, and it was actually pretty good. We rented the others last night and will take them with us to watch on our trip to Montana. That should help the miles roll faster anyway.. Also saw Ratatouli today, and have to agree with Babs..(I know, I know...), but...it was a cute movie.
