People still go to movie theaters?

I saw "Son of Rambow" last week. It's a British movie about these two lonely little boys making a movie. It's very good and sometimes it's hard to know who to root for. I would recommend watching it with "This is England" as they have similar themes.

Anyone seen "30 Days of Night"? A friend sent it to me and I haven't had time to watch it yet.

"30 Days of Night"
Living where you do you *might* get a kick out of it, but I don't know man... The characters are moronic, the reveals are heavy-handed, the plot is cliche, the cinematography (edgy when introduced in "28 Days Later" and the spate of Japanese horror imports) is trite and overplayed...
My recommendation would be to have yourself a beer and give it the Mystery Science Theater treatment for there is much to ridicule in the movie but know that by the same token most of what will make the movie watchable is what you bring to it yourself.

Considering the person who gave it to me (a fellow MiSTie), I would expect it to be either really great or really MiSTable.

Last movie I saw at the theatre was the latest Batman. Last movie I saw on DVD and didn't fall asleep in the middle of it was the Bucket List.

Most recent movie I watched was "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" on DVD, first time I'd seen it...good stuff. At the theater? Geez....mighta been Reno 911, lol. It was free so what the hell... I don't really watch many movies, especially over the last few years. The irony is that I spent many years working for Movie Gallery, Hollywood Video, and Blockbuster (pure evil!). Actually, that's probably the key reason why I don't get into them much, that and my short attention span... Customer: "So what's new and good?" Me: "I dunno, I don't watch movies..." Customer: "Then why do you work at a video store?" Me: "The free rentals. "

Speaking of MST3K movies, Big Lots on Brainard Rd. has "Alien From L.A." for $3. Not the MST3K version, though. I didn't buy it.
I did buy "Red Dawn", "An Evening With Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder", "Supernova", "Kung Fu Hustle", "Ringers: Lord of the Fans", "Rollerball", "Son of the Pink Panther", "Curse of the Pink Panther", "Inspector Cluesoe" (sp?) and one other I can't remember for $3 each. I also came really close to getting "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" just because of Hopper's over the top portrayal of the chainsaw wielding sheriff. For the liberals, they also had "Bowling for Columbine". I started to get one for a friend, but decided I wouldn't buy any of Moore's stuff even at a discount at Big Lots, and that giving someone a copy wasn't exactly friendly.

Elgiacomo, which Movie Gallery did you work for? I worked at the one in Sweet Elmo & the one on Gunbarrel Road, both no longer in existence. This was back in '96/'97.

"Tropic Thunder" and "You Don't Mess with the Zohan". Have to say, I enjoyed Zohan more. I like my comedies broad and stupid.

I rewatched "Zohan" last night and it was horrible! I don't know why I thought it was funny the first time. I must have had more to drink than I realized. I'm just glad I didn't try to drive.

While out of town this weekend I saw National Treasure on DVD -- much better than I'd expected.
And "Twilight" in the movie theatre. About what I expected.

"The Namesake." Would have been a lot better if it hadn't tried to cover so much territory. Probably based on a book, which is probably really good.

I finally got the ol' ball and chain to watch 30 Days of Night with me.
I think the movie would have been OK, except for the multitude of factual errors, some of which were the basis for the show. My wife hated it. She hates horror movies. But, if I have to sit through a chick flick, she has to sit through one of my movies.
Although, one of the "factual errors" listed on imdb is not a factual error. A lot of car in Barrow have no license plates. Most people never bother to register their cars up there. No state highways, and where are you going to take it if you steal it?
