I use AT&T DSL, so for what I do, speed's OK, but I wonder about EPB's fiber.
I have the feeling that when the forum screens are slow to respond, it's not necessarily the fault of DSL but is more of a problem with how fast the forum software and hardware serve up the pages to me.
So my question to EPB fiber users is this. Do you routinely experience "slow" forum pages or are they instantly available most of the time?
Another way to ask the question is, where does the problem lay? In the connection or in the source?

Yoda, for reading the forums DSL is usually fast enough. IOW, you won't see a lot of difference between text beamed to you over DSL than you will over fiber. Now you will see a big difference over the pictures loading. Most of the delay you are seeing with the forum is due to the load on the server for the forum and is not related to network speed.

My questions have not been addressed. you run the speed test in my post. compare the numbers. yeah sometimes pro-boards gets slammed but without a benchmark you can't tell if its you or them.

2.8Mbps is not bad for text but graphics, might be slow.

Hmmm... According to that test, I'm currently Downloading at 1.2 Mbps. Uploading at 153 kbps.
A 10 MB files takes 1 minute to download. A DVD movie would take 8.6 hours.
Yeah. I'm upgrading next week.

On the EPB test site
10.9 download speed 4.36 upload speed
Just got the hanger today that EPB is in my neighborhood now, so I'll be calling them tomorrow to sign up. I will be so glad to get rid of Comcast!!! I'm getting tired of constantly having to reset the modem.

I'm glad to see that, as it means they are probably analog, and thus something I could capture with a simple PVR-150 card. Do you know if any of the digital channels are available via QAM? (If you have a digital TV, they should have channels like 9-1 instead of just 9).

(At a collar that I'm sure will be replaced with a "smart" collar later) It then jumps to a box that splits out the different signals. The TV will ride in on the existing cables. Can't tell you much more till Monday.

Called and arranged for my installation with EPB. I'll have it by next week. And to top it off, I'm saving about $40 a month, plus Comcast is getting ready to increase my rates again!!! Makes me happy!!!

I forgot to ASK how much my new bundle was going to cost.
At this point, my computer has been freezing, lagging, taking forever to load Fire Fox, not letting me log into WoW at all, refusing to open Mail.com ... Screw it. My service doesn't work. Gotta move. Might as well get fiber optic and make my geek son in Harrison jealous.

That is an expensive internet service. Yeah, it's the fastest speed I've seen for residential service but, still, $57/month?

$127 per month for all three. I think that's less than what I'm paying now for crapy service and ComCrap... which BTW... decided to flake out on me during LOST. No one else had trouble that night. Just me.

Paying in at a bit over 100 clams on Charter for their cable, internet, all movie channels, HD , and sports package. That's about 50 (IIRC) cheaper then CC for just cable and net

My net must know something's up. It loaded nice and fast this morning. I normally have to sit here and let it THINK about opening FireFox. The inside installation for my Fiber Optics isn't until this afternoon.
