Anyone have the scoop on what would appear to be a new floating bar/eatery located directly across from the pier on the north side of the river? We were at the Blue Plate a couple of weeks ago and mentioned it to the wait staff and they indicated it had just been put in place a few days earlier. It looked as if there were folks setting up, unpacking chairs, tables etc.

That barge parked/docked near the Olgiati bridge/tank farm on the north shore opposite side of Riverside Booze I first noticed it not weeks ago but months ago... Its been there awhile... Id say since Nov/Dec. I have no knowledge but Id bet a dollar and speculate that it was a Luken/Foodworks fiasco/idea. Thinking about the Toby Mckenzie business model... what is the Luken Inc. fail time frame?
Pulse? TFP? What more do you need?

Thanks fftspam. Know full well the Mckenzie biz model as I actually worked in one of his ventures many years ago. The Luken theory makes sense as I know his boat was docked there some time back. This area may just be his personal play toy.
Wouldn't be so quick to say that Luken is in the same "fail" scenario as Toby knowing what I know about McKenzie from first hand knowledge. Luken appears to have hit a pretty good vein of cash with his retro TV network deals. At least that's the scuttlebutt. Now, where folks like this get in trouble is when their focus and dollars start going to areas they may not be real business savvy with be it the food industry or whatever. Diversification can be a good thing IF you understand the business you're putting your money into.
