Best Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at in town. It's on Cummings Hwy. Very authentic. Best salsa I've had anywhere. Chesse dip, which is a gringo thing anyhow, is average, but the rest makes up for it. The Mexicans seem to like queso dip better than cheese dip. I like both equally.

Welcome back Bill'.
While I have never eaten at Casa Raul in Tiftonia I have dined at two short lived, would be branches. The first was on Mtn. Creek Road after La Costa closed, they only lasted a month or so. The second was on Hixson Pike after Azteca's closed, not sure they even lasted a month there.
I have to say that, in my opinion, they never came near jumping over the bar set by either of the prior restaurants. I will also refrain from any comments on the cheese/queso situation.

Welcome back Bill'. I will also refrain from any comments on the cheese/queso situation. I once went to a French resturant and there were snails on the plate. I called the health department. Estoy aqui todo el semana. <rim shot in spanish> I get no respect. The waiter asked if I wanted a cerveza. I said no bring me a beer. He asked what kind. I said "Bring me the most popular Mexican beer". He brought me a bud light. <rim shot> Is this thing on?

Been around a couple years and just getting known?
I guess if you live near Cummings Hwy that might be the spot; however I have no need to drive that far for authenticity.

I might be wrong on the 3 1/2 months thing. But you are definitely wrong on the "been around for quite a few years" thing
June 4th was their 1st and only beer delivery. their account was set up just days prior. The building they are "business merry-go-rounding" in could be a few years old,... so if they've been open for any longer than 8 days they didn't serve any mexican beer, legally anyway.
which would not make the place very "authentic"
best of luck to them. for the next 3 1/2 months

well if that article is accurate then I stand corrected.
BUT,... they did just get their beer license. i guess you can have a mexican joint that doesn't serve beer. Not one I'm going to go to. But I guess it's possible.

Damn, and I thought I was bad about wanting beer with Mexican food, or any other food for that matter. I ate at Taco Roc for some time before they offered beer and loved every bite. I have eaten Mexican food in, gasp, Mexico where beer was not served. I reckon they were not "authentic".

I guess you better stick with Chili's Bryan. Now, at least please tell me you do not drink light beer.

By now you should know that I'm not really a "simpleton"
I drink everything. Including plenty of Miller Lite Pilsner beer.
I eat everything as well and much of the time it's organic and/or peusdo-healthy. other times it's garbage @ Buffalo Wild Wings, drinking (aforementioned Lite draft), & winning Team Trivia. Which brought on an Irish Car Bomb finish.
Oh and watched the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup

they have not been in that location since 06. they have been open since before june 4 though. Maybe a month, 6 weeks max.
I drive by it on my way home from marina. I have actually heard the food is ok, but not stopped yet. (usually very ready to get home when leaving the boat, if you know what i mean)

They have been open somewhere in Tiftonia for a few years. I know that when La Costa closed they reopened it shortly afterwards as Casa Raul and told us that they had a restaurant in the Tiftonia area.

You've never posted anything to back up this statement.
