Greetings! There are over 1600 children with special needs in Dalton and Whitfield County Georgia. A project has already begun to build a special surfaced and equiped recreation facility to host baseball and similar recreational events but a tremendous amount of funding is required to see the park to completion. The park when completed would serve the residence of North Georgia and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Tom Brown and myself plan to help the fund raising and public awareness effort by creating a Bluegrass Bands Helping Hands Volume III CD. Today, we are asking for your support to help us JUMP-START the CD project by backing us at any level you are able. **** UPDATE **** Please note that due to a mis-understanding of the Kickstarter policy on fundraising for charitable causes, we're moving our CD project development campaign directly to paypal. We still love the Kickstarter platform and what they do for many artists. If you wish to support the making of this CD, a secure paypal link will be located at our website, www.bluegrassbandshelpinghands.com . You may also select the donate link from within this email to link securely to paypal. Click Here to donate securely with PayPal: www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=QPQTG5HGCKT3Q Facebook users may use the secure widget from our facebook app. Click Here to link to Facebook app: r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=vw6xcdeab&et=1106268323801&s=189&e=001FCyQVC_myDHT-unq9bC3R6BkWvgj9w0Ldh0nj1LWlfaj06G3_2OgD7K1NNmdX3pzWNM1yUUZLENGUwh7M2Qk9Sy0LqT05Ucg41sXBaWQt30=We are still offering the incentives for helping us finish our CD: +Donate $10 - We'll make sure you receive the CD mailed to your home as a pre-release! before everyone else can get it!!! ++Donate $25 or more- Get the Bluegrass Bands Helping Hands Trilogy - Volumes 1,2 and 3 - Lot's of great music, but better yet ........musicians making a difference in other peoples lives through music! +++Donate $50 or more- Receive reserved seating at the CD release party at the Historic Dalton Freight Depot, plus the 3 CD collection. THE FIRST EVER "FOLK STOMP" at the St. Elmo Fire Hall - JULY 25th, 26th & 27th!!!
It's almost here! The very first ever Folk Stomp!! You might find it strange that we'd be throwing our biggest party of the year in the middle of the week, but sure enough, next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are THE days/nights to be at the St. Elmo Fire Hall. Many of our instructors and friends will be performing and jamming there, and we hope you'll bring your instrument, family, friends, and dancing shoes to join in the festivities. This is our one big fundraiser for the year. $20 gets you a three-day pass, or you can come party with us for just a single day for $8.

Although everyone oooed and aaahhhed over our pond stage, and over four hundred people were quiet enough to hear Dread play without amplification; there was one complaint. Dread had to stand in the sun, (a lot of people mentioned it to us) and it was pretty hot the last couple of years. So now there is a cover on the pond stage for their comfort. The cover and indeed this stage itself is just an example of people believing in what we do. This on the water stage or it's cover did not cost us any work or money. A guy just thought it would be cool, and unlike a lot of people that have great ideas he made his idea happen. Thank you thank you thank you. For those of you that have received a flyer in the mail we do want you to notice the advertisement on the back for the Alabama Folk School. If you don't know what this is you might want to check out their web site. It is held at Camp McDowell about 20 miles or so from our festival site. You can learn to quilt, make baskets, play an instrument, and I am sure much more. People come from all over the county to learn from them and spend a week in their very special world. Their advertisement paid for about half the cost of our flyer. If you check out their web site click off an email to them telling them thank you. Camp McDowell, nice folks making a difference in our world. Every time I send out an email like this someone orders a couple of tickets as they are reminded of our Early Bird Special deadline of August 10th. So naturally I am going to send out emails for your entertainment and our bottom line. Remember tickets right NOW ARE ONLY $20!!!! Again I will mention that we are opening our doors to art and craft vendors this year for the first time ever if you know anyone that might be interested. Please help spread the word about what we do. I hope to see you at our first fall show in eight years on October 8th. www.theacousticcafe.com steve@theacousticcafe.com steve masterson

New classes will begin next week. August's choices include Intro to Mandolin, Beyond Beginning Mandolin, Intro to Fiddle, Ballad Singing, Jazz Ensemble, and Intro to Bluegrass Banjo. The Friday Slow Jam starts back up on August 19th, after a week off on August 12. The best way to find the classes you're looking for is to visit our website and use the search bar on the site. Some classes will begin this week, and many more will start in September, so have a look to see if something suits you! chattanoogafolk.comWe are changing our class and payment format significantly beginning in August, and hope that you will find it much more accommodating and flexible. Many of our classes will be offered in four-week formats, allowing us to offer many more chances for people to begin classes at the Folk School. Many Beyond Beginning classes will also be offered each month, allowing for students to continue their development after a beginning-level class. As for payment, we now offer our U-Pick-It Ticket, a punch card that can be purchased prior to or on the first day of class. The ticket will get punched for each class you attend, and can be used for any of our classes, and other special events at the Folk School. You will still have the option to register online for the entire four-week or eight-week class if that works more easily for you. Many big thanks to all of our friends, students, teachers, and sponsors who REALLY showed the love at the Folk Stomp in St. Elmo. It was a big success and we'll have photos and reviews posted on the website soon. Christie, John, and Lon send their greetings from Belgium! They're participating in an international music project there and will soon return to Chattanooga with lots of new tunes from all over the world! Hello Everyone, Well I have just learned that master bass player Byron House will be a part of the Jim Hurst Trio!!! Byron who played with Sam for about 15 years then went on to be a part of Robert Plant's band (yes that Robert Plant) apparently has the weekend off and will be joining Jim. Byron's son, Truman, will be playing drums to round out the trio. This is gonna be a set to see. Mmmm what should I do now, remind you to buy tickets? Or should I remind you that art and craft vendors will be allowed to sell their goods for the first time ever at the Acoustic Cafe? Or tell you about the free Yoga with Christina class to be held? Or should I tell you about the kids nature walk with Harbert before the Yoga class on Saturday morning? We are still at www.theacousticcafe.com and you can still reach me at steve@theacousticcafe.com Tickets are still at the unheard of low price of $30. As always please help us to spread the word about what we do. steve masterson

Hello Everyone, We should let you know who the ticket outlets are in case that is your preferred method of getting a ticket in your hand. We have a new one this year they are the RED CAT COFFEE HOUSE in downtown Birmingham 205/616-8450. Also in Birmingham (Homewood) is FRETTED INSTRUMENTS 205/879-6489 and way up in Cullman is BERKLEY BOB'S COFFEE HOUSE 256/775-2944 If you get your tickets from one of these outlets please tell them thank you. No I don't pay them for doing this. Maybe even buy a cup of coffee from them or a $5,000 guitar, just whatever you feel comfortable doing. Our October 8th show is getting really close and we hope you will not only buy tickets but please help us to spread the word about what we do. I think I have about the best fall garden in the county. Last night I just sat outside and stared at it. I have turnip and mustard greens, brussell sprouts, cabbage, collards, radishes, two types of lettuce and chard. If it all tastes as good as it looks I am going to be doing some fine eating. Check out our web site for complete line up and stage schedule for the show. www.theacousticcafe.com is also where you can buy tickets with the click of your mouse and a credit card number. It will also tell you where to mail a check if you would like to do it like that. Contact me at steve@theacousticcafe.com Thank you for being a part of this group. steve masterson
