I plan on shopping for a few weapons soon and am looking for merchant recommendations. Where are your favorite local gun shops?

GT Distributors, bar-none. Huge selection with prices that rival any web based store.
Other then them, see the big box stores like Academy and Sportsmans.

Thanks JC I would much rather give my money to a local brick & mortar store.

Are you looking for long guns or pistols?

Are you looking for long guns or pistols? A bit of both actually. The only specific long gun I'm drooling over isn't all that long - FN P90. Other than that I'm possibly looking for a nice shotgun and/or a pistol.

Gt dist will end up beating pretty much any local dealer, this is mainly b/c they cater to LEO's. you will have to do a transfer fee for pistols since they are in GA.
I do a lot of business with the value pawn on hwy 153. they tend to have a good selection and have an absolutely awesome lay away plan, with plenty of time to pay it off.
sportsmans supply in hixson has a good selection, but you will not find a deal. and the majority of people are turned off by the owner. but I have heard that he can pretty much order anything for you.
shooters depot. its locally owned and has two stores, one on shallowford rd & in Ft.O. I have not bought anything from them, and I have hit or miss stories with customer service. which is also my experience when shopping with them.
some people like carter's on 58, I've never been impressed, and only bought an accessory from them once, b/c they had it.
I go very often to sportsmans warehouse, b/c I fondle the guns & accessories there. I've been to acadamy a few times. and just do not have an opinion one way or another.
ultimately I spend most of my money at the valupawn on 153 & at Gt's. I pretty much know exactly what I'm looking for before I get to handling the final two or three options. then I find who has the best price.

Twin city pawn in Rossville has a P90. I was looking at it last week. They are good people and have a large selection. Just like GT you will have to do a transfer for a pistol but you can walk out with the P90.
