How long has Bea's been around?

My guess is Bea's or Nikki's to be the oldest but the Longhorn on N Market has been there as long as I can remember.

I went to Nikki's in 1973 with my father and then husband. Too young to buy a beer if I wanted to.Not that I could drink a beer in front of my father. We would all die!Such good livers and salisbury steak. You who know my diet now would never believe it!

Nikki's is where Stychen's mother and father met back in '56. It had been around awhile then.

Krystal looses because they closed the store opened in 1932. (at georgia and seventh, I think)
I think Mt Vernon just because it is one of the few places the 70s didn't erase from my memory..

Correct. They've been around for nearly 100 years now and still owned by the same family.

Correct. They've been around for nearly 100 years now and still owned by the same family. How could I forget Zarzour's !! The Zarzour's on Rossville Avenue though and not the newer place on Market St. I've never had anything but a good experience at the old Zarzour's. It is just hard to get a vegetarian meal in there. Good old fashioned food has always got some sort of ham added somewhere. Love the family and the customer's too. Salad & coffee please!

Yeah, but that isn't the original building. The original offered curb service.

this is a good conversation. it would be better if we eliminated Krystal from it.
I love Longhorn. I know it's nothing more than a waffle house basically but there's something very comfortable about the joint and they really go out of their way to make you feel like they know you without annoying you. That's hard to do.
and hell, it's generally heart attack inducing breakfast food. kind of hard to screw up.

And the Longhorn has it's heritage tied to one of the iconic restaurants no longer with us, The Town and Country.
