Campaign Financial Disclosures are a window into who is doing who, and provide connectivity. Little Chicago Watch hearts campaign disclosures that gave us direct connectivity to Tennessee Waltzers and TN Pars that are big buddies and responsible for the Farmers Market deal, ie Crutchfield, Tompsons all XOXO. It is simply heart warming. They are a helpful tool for the public.
I digress. We reviewed the campaign financial disclosures from City Council members Jack Benson, Pam Ladd, and Carol Berz who have voted consistently to strip pay and benefits from police and fire. I was truly amazed at the volumes of pac campaign contributions these candidates received from SEIU, IBEW, and Trades and Labor. These are registered labor PACs, so their contribution limit was $5,000 in 2009, has increased since.
For instance, IBEW leader, Kenny Smith has been loading up Berz, Ladd on $5,000 campaign contributions from labor. I wish Smith would get a damn clue, being Dem does not mean you really support labor.
As a matter of fact, the voting record of Berz, Ladd, and Benson speaks to anti labor perspectives. These Council members ain't friends of labor, evidenced by their toxic voting record against labor. This voting block has been directly responsible for setting back Fire and Police a decade in pay, due to slowing stripping away benefits in small increments over 4 years. They could get a 40% raise and still be in the red, why?
1) The aforementioned Council members voted to exempt many ranks from overtime pay to provide the minimum allowed by law. So, sitting in court is on their own time, as one example.
2) The employees were given take home cars in lieu of raises for many years, and were threatened with keep your cars or raise so many times over the years. Then, they take cars anyway, or charge to drive them home.
3) These Council members reduced health benefits that were promised to employees for 24.5 years of service, that were within 6 months of being eligible to retire. The employees did not even have a chance to plan.
Now, the same labor funded Council members voted not to give raises. The losses to City employees are strategically cumulative, taking a piece here and a piece there to ensure that the benefit is merely a snapshot and a news blurb to the public, so no one understands the cumulative losses over 4 years.
Get a clue Labor , just because these Council members are Dems don't mean they love ya. I for one, wish Kenny Smith at IBEW would mind his own F'in business at IBEW, and stop acting like a King maker, and throwing money at anti labor candidates. Same for that Nashville SEIU busy body. I see that the $5,000 checks to Berz and Ladd, and his plea worked out well.
Benson, Berz, and Ladd never vote for labor.
How can we ever get better council members, if busy body, Kenny Smith at IBEW, and Trades and Labor fund anti labor candidates?
Stop giving these people MONEY please!
