If anybody needs me for anything, I can be found on or near the front row at the CSN show tonight. Hell yea!
Anybody got a good pre-concert, short walking distance, drinking establishment to recommend? Food is a plus, but not mandatory.
There used to be an Irish place behind the auditorium on Georgia Ave. Not sure if still there or not, but it was my kind of place back then-7 years or so ago.

That is Jefferson's now. They have decent food, though the service can be slow at times. I'd go early if I were you to be sure to get done by the time the show starts.

Probably eat at home. Just looking for a place to bend an elbow before the show. Think Jeffersons will do.
Thanks!

Jeffersons isn't the place I was thinking of. You're talking about the old BR. I was thinking of a place that was not much more from the front than just basically an entranceway. Sort of a dive, I guess.
I thought I remembered it as a walk behind Memorial Auditorium and down Georgia Ave., but I seem to remember it being on a downhill slope, so maybe we went left a little down a side road. Anyway, there are choices.

The Varsity is back there. Good greasy college food and I think they serve beer.

"In the past, I would be completely stoned up here right now, but I decided I sing better if I'm not. You folks out there are welcome to be as stoned as you want though"
-David Crosby
Real good show. They had some unforced errors, especially Stephen Stills, but it was kind of cool to see what it's like for a band of that magnitude to get the bugs worked out before moving on to larger venues. The harmonies are still spot on.

The Food sucks
not sure what you are talking about
might be a place called "the varsity" that I'm not aware of but never heard of anything like this and I know whatever it is it doesn't sell beer.
good place to drink. Never eaten there. Believe it or not I liked it better as a ratty pool dive.
if not for the MLB Allstar game last night I would have most likely gone. Twitter & Facebook were on fire w/ how great the show was. I had a feeling it might have been mostly from overzealous, possibly over served, superfans that might have turned a blind eye to some off the imperfections.
I've seen CSN on Palladia and they were anything but very good. Not terrible, just what you would expect. Guys nearing 70 years of age playing music they made when they were in their 20s.
It's not possible for it to sound the same.

I would have liked to have seen this show, but I did get to see them w/Young on the Freedom Tour in Hotlanta a few years ago. Watching all the asshats being offended when it got political was hilarious. What in the world did they expect, especially with Young there?

would make as much sense as me getting pissed off @ the Ted Nugent show next month b/c of what that Jackass says on stage.
Strong GOPompous Bush supporters get all pissy when performers slam their guys but laugh their asses off when blowhard scumbags like Nugent talk all kinds of shit about Obama and the Left.
typical aristocratic pompous asshole republican bullshit. Nothing to see here.

I agree that Nugent is a jackass, but it's not fair that you left out "pedophile" and "draft dodger".

Watching all the asshats being offended when it got political was hilarious. What in the world did they expect, especially with Young there? This show had a moment too. Graham Nash started a song, and said it was written to bring attention to Bradley Mannings treatment at the hands of our government. Someone yelled out "He's a fucking traitor!" and Nash said "I'm not talking about his guilt or innocence, I'm talking about how he's being treated as a human being". The song was called Almost Gone.
