Choo Choo Jazz Fest May 3-5, at the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo Imperial Ballroom.
This well-established traditional jazz festival has been bringing some of the country’s best Dixieland jazz to the city for over 20 years (previously under the name Chattanooga Traditional Jazz Festival).
This year, the Choo Choo Jazz Fest will feature Dixieland jazz by four traditional jazz bands including The Jim Cullum Jazz Band, the Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band, the Wolverine Jazz Band, and the Frisco Jazz Band.
The Jim Cullum Jazz Band, from San Antonio Texas, is distinguished for playing the classic jazz associated with King Oliver and Louis Armstrong.
The Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band from Seattle Washington, specializes in authentic sounding Dixieland jazz and ragtime.
The Wolverine Jazz Band from Boston, Massachusetts, features fantastic arrangements of traditional jazz and swing from Duke Ellington and many more.
Finally, the Frisco Jazz Band from San Anselmo, California, plays the exciting music of the master jazz composers in the straight-ahead, robost, full-bodied ensemble jazz style of the San Francisco Revival pioneered by Lu Watters and Turk Murphy.
The tickets can be purchased at choochoojazzfest.com or by calling 423-596-1388 during business hours.
