Nearly ten years ago, Chattanooga native and Baylor School graduate Sarah Cate Patten met Benedetto Scaduto while studying abroad in Italy during her junior year of high school. Over the next months and years, their love for one another grew and flourished, as well as their love for Italian food and cooking. Thus was born The Saucy Sicilian.
On any given night, you may have seen Benny and his (now-)wife Sarah Cate through the windows at local retailer Mia Cucina, instructing the masses how to cook authentic Italian cuisine.
In order to start their business and purchase their truck, they are in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign with foodstart.com. Saucy Sicilian perks include such things as lifetime discounts and even the opportunity to develop and name a menu item.
To present what will be the main staple on their food truck, Benny and Sarah Cate will hold a free tasting of their arancini (crispy fried balls of risotto stuffed with just about anything you like) at Mia Cucina (345 Frazier Avenue, #103) on Saturday, June 8 from 12–2pm.
Stop by to find out more about The Saucy Sicilian, taste some authentic street food and do a little shopping at Mia Cucina.
