The area around Main Street is looking up and a prominent Chattanooga restaurant operator plans to open "a first-class restaurant" there, Lyndhurst Foundation President Jack Murrah said. He told the Southside Chamber of Commerce, "Main Street is in a come-back mode. It has a bright future." Mr. Murrah said Ken Hays, former aide to Mayor Jon Kinsey, has bought a house nearby in the revived Fort Negley and will move off Signal Mountain to downtown. He said Fort Negley is one of three once-blighted communities that Lyndhurst provided seed money to help revive. www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_104966.asp

Recently dined at La Atena, Main at Broad - great food & 'sphere. Didn't pay for parking, either.

Hair of the dog is supposedly going in at the corner of market and main Terry Cannon and Scotty (big chill) were trying to work on something, she told me the deal had died but I would be excited if it were back in the works
other than that I am short on gossip for once...

My academy partner and room mate of old opened a coffee / sammich shop there, and the initial bar deal fell through because the building owner apparently felt that if he avoided City code inspectors long enough for building violations, they would just 'go away'.
(They did not, as indicated by the day the building was padlocked at every entrance. Ass-hat.)
I believe that killed the deal, but if fixed it would be a great place for a Martini bar; it's rent is too high end for a beer joint, but fine dining would be great (with a second floor put in--the floor space is limited, but not ceiling space).

Front page of business section..yesterday? said Blue Orleans was opening in the clark brothers building. Surely this is not the fine dining restaurant they speak of? I went once...it was good/ok but not what I would consider "fine" who knows

Some folks feel that there is no fine dining in Chattanooga. Others feel that anyplace with cloth napkins is fine dining. Who knows indeed.
