There is a little window that serves Nathans that is just around the corner from cheeburgercheeburger downtown. Great hot dog reasonably priced. I rarely buy a hot dog.

Isn't there a place called Hot Diggity Dog on East Brainerd Road, past Gunbarrel? Never been, just passed by it on the way to Lupi's

That place has been gone since early 2005, long before Lupi's arrived in East Brainerd! There is another place with a similar name on Ringgold Road. Lee's Armando's on East Brainerd Road has a pretty good hot dog. Gollywhopper's has them on certain days of the week. Have never cared for Griffin's.

I know, didn't the Addams Family live there? Actually, it's the street that leads to the National Cemetery, which spans probably 2 dozen acres or more. Quite a sight driving past. Not far from the National Guard Armory and the Army Reserve Training Center.

I spend many, many days and nights seeking The Perfect Dog. It was close, at Frankenfurters...but they have long since passed.
I would concur that Griffen's (Main and Central, actually) has it closest, but their prices are shit and I do not like their cole slaw...and what is a Perfect Hot Dog, without Slaw, Onions, and Chili?
I mean...SERIOUSLY, Goddammit?
You are talking to a man who LOVES him a good freakin' Hot Dog. Chicago, New Yawk, 'Frisco... I've had them all--and Chicago has it hands down--but locally?
It is a barren wasteland, where my Dog can find no Joy.
(*Sigh*)

Halk3, I assume you know George deep-fried the hamburger patties, right? There hamburgers were good. They pre-cooked them and then heated them backup in a fryer. Something that most people would not accept today, but it was a different time. People used to joke that if you ate lunch there everyone knew it because of the grease odor. Then there were the special prices they had at 1 time 5 hamburers for a $1.00, normally $0.25 each, or 6 hot dogs for a $100, normally $0.20 each.

Lowly's has been buying these store brand dogs from BiLo that are abso-freaking-lutely huge, and pretty darned good to boot. Been grilling them, and have finally found the perfect method to get them plumped all the way up without burning the outside. Good eatin', but not for sale.

And just how do you do that?

Get them seared and striped on the main grill. Then, move them to the warming rack and close the lid (and keep it closed) for about 5 minutes. That way they are off the direct heat and won't burn, but are still cooking and will continue to plump up.

There's nothing quite like buying a hot dog from a street vendor in New York City... I miss that

This past weekend I had a 1/2 Pound, steak filet, hot dog grilled at a Round Rock Express game. It was huge and delicious, I just felt less like a man, because I had to eat it with a fork after the bun fell apart from the weight of the dog and all the toppings.

OK, Jay...I wasn't sure where to post this. It's been on my mind since this thread started.. These two nuns from Rome were visiting NYC. They saw a hot dog street vendor. One of them said to the other."Let's try one of these! I've heard so much about them." They ordered two hot dogs and were walking down the street. One of the nuns opened her hot dog wrapper and said "Uh, sister, which part did you get?"
