Is it a table-service type restaurant or is it an order at the counter and they bring it to you on paper plates? We've tried a couple of those and I hate paying $10 for a entree that comes on paper plates and plasticware.

Janet, I went today for lunch. You order at the counter, and they bring it out, but it's on real plates.
I like that I may have as much "white sauce" as I want.
(I like a little rice with my white sauce.)
I thought it was as good as The Typhoid. Call 'em, and they'll fax you a menu.

Footy - are you talking about the one in Cleveland that Dreamwebber mentioned or the one on Hixson Pike? I'm with you on the white sauce!

I was a little confused about which place you were talking about Janet lol. I always get mine to go so, I didn't know they served it on paper plates. Next time I go in there I will mention it to them. I like it because for about 16 bucks I can have dinner for myself and Chris where if I went to one of the Japanese restaurants I have to pay 40+

that is my only gripe about Typhoon of Tokyo. they only give you a small container of white sauce and charge for extra!

If you ask for it after you sit down, they don't charge you. I've never been charged for extra sauce at Typhoon.

I only get a 30 minute lunch break, so I always get mine to go... now if I could just find a grocery store that sold the stuff, I could keep my own in the fridge here at work.... hmmmmm

Does anyone have a recipe for that type of sauce or know what the actual name of it is?

What is white sauce? I have never seen anything like that. I love Japanese restaurants "shrimp sauce" but, it is kind of an orange color. I load my stuff down with that stuff...it has a sweet taste to it...is that what you are talking about? if so....I too would love to have the recipe.

Typhoon's "white sauce" is more of a mustard sauce (or so I taste) ... Ichiban has the BEST "white sauce."

That orangey shrimp sauce like they serve at Bonefish on the BangBang shrimp is mayonaisse and chili sauce

You must have a different idea of "white sauce" than I do, because what they have at Typhoon and the Teriyaki House isn't white, it's yellow. It seems to be a combination of mustard, soy and something sweet, probably a small amount of honey. I've had a truly "white" sauce at other Japanese restaurants. I have no idea what's in that stuff, but I think its nasty. The wife prefers it, though. She complains that they don't have it here (she's from out of state).

I agree with you on the sauce at Typhoon & Teriyaki house. It is more like a mustard type sauce rather than the "white" sauce that they serve at Ichiban & Little Tokyo. The mustard type sauce is good, but I really prefer the "white" sauce from Ichiban. I also love the fact that you can get as much of it as you want at Little Tokyo because they are so dang stingy with their sauces at Typhoon!

Haven't tried this, but it might work: Japanese White Sauce
2 cups mayonnaise 6-1/2 fluid ounces water 1-1/2 tablespoons ketchup 2 tablespoons sugar 1 dash hot pepper sauce 2 teaspoons garlic powder 3/4 teaspoon paprika 1/4 teaspoon white pepper 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1 pinch salt
In a blender or food processor, combine mayonnaise, water, ketchup, sugar, and hot pepper sauce. Add garlic powder, paprika, white pepper, black pepper, and salt. Blend until smooth.

If I can't have fried rice with my dish I don't want it
I'm a steamed rice person myself -- fried rice is typically loaded to the gills with msg. The rice isn't supposed to "taste" -- it's to be eaten along with the seasoned dishes where it assumes their taste but keeps its sticking together texture..... Delightful

It was in the shopping center where Amigo's is on Highway 153 (where Winn Dixie used to be). I think it's called North Towne Center.

Yeah, that's the shopping center. Hobby Lobby is in the same shopping center, too.

Is Milano's also still up in Dallas Bay -- 8615 Hixson Pike, between Daisy-Dallas and Dallas Hollow?
If the 153 Milano's is good, it means that they recovered from a horrible start. We tried it twice when they first opened and were not impressed at all with either the food, the portions, or the service.

I have to agree with that dj. The salad wasn't much and the service was terrible. I was served a piece of fish that wasn't fully cooked! I usually order my fish medium rare and this was much less than that. We've been there three times and not once have we had decent service. Hopefully things have changed since it's been a while.

The Milano's in Dallas Bay has been closed for quite a while... (Which sucks. It was nice having it so close.)

Yeah, I've commented on how blah the salad there is, and the service was hit or miss, but I thought the portions were good.
We did enjoy getting take-out from the Dallas Bay location. OH well.

Typhoon is either on an extended vacation or closed. Been no activity there for at least a week that I have seen.
