On a recent trip downtown during lunch, Wayne and I stopped in at the Flatiron Deli located at 706 Walnut St. Though they have been there for many years, it was our first visit. The menu consists of seven different salads priced at $5.75, along with soups, sandwiches and baked potatoes. There is also a Penne Pasta or Garden Rotini Pasta for vegetarians ($1.75 small; $3.50 large). I asked about the soup of the day since the menu specifies they have three each day – Vegetable Beef, Chicken Noodle and a Soup of the Day ($2.75). For some reason on this day they only had Chicken Noodle. You can also get your choice of ½ sandwich with either a soup or garden salad for $5.75. Flatiron Deli has hamburgers, hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches if you prefer. The baked potatoes are stuffed with your choice of rotisserie chicken or BBQ pork ($4.70) and for an additional charge you can add butter, sour cream, cheese or chili). www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_110052.asp
