In the not too distant future, the Outer Banks will be serving Kordax all types of delights from the sea.... I can bypass the local seafood scene until then ....

Kordax, Blue Water gets fresh fish from Jacksonville daily.
Angel, the lobster bites were great. My entree was a raspberry BBQ swordfish with ginger rice and fresh veggies. Stray had shrimp and lobster pasta that I thought was out of this world! Dessert: I had chocolate creme brulee, and Stray had chocolate peanut butter pie. Both were wunnerful.
*Edited to add: We also shared some Lobster Bisque that we enjoyed.

About 3 weeks ago, we chose to dine at Blue Water. I ordered grilled grouper (pricey -- market rates) & needed a magnifying glass to see any evidence of actual fish on my plate. I firmly believe the fish had been frozen -- tasted insipid & unlike any grouper I've ever had -- I've tasted better Mrs. Paul's out of a box than the Blue Water's grouper.
I'll never return....

Aw, that really sucks to hear, K. I was just repeating what the waiter said. All I know is our dishes were fantastic and seemed fresh as far as we could tell.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bonefish is part of a chain (including Carrabba's, Outback and Flemings) aimed at popular, upscale dining. The room is well designed to promote a sense of quiet intimacy, although the crowds can overwhelm both and isn't compensated for by dimming the lights. The uniformed waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, but obviously are coached to promote drinks and appetizers. Service can be slow. Bang Bang shrimp is the justly popular and promoted appetizer: fried shrimp has s a mildly spicey sauce. Saucy Shrimp is a nice plate of shrimp in a Greek inspired sauce, lemon juice based. Calamari are breaded in a light batter but a bit too heavily so; they become oily. The fish is all of decent quality, but without exception, milder in flavor then you might expect or hope for. The (Norwegian) salmon is well received as an entre or on a salad. The grouper, talipia and shrimp/scallop dishes are all adequately prepared, but not exciting (all are grilled with choice of one of four sauces which are limited and limiting). The special fish taco was bland to the point of being boring and the accompaning potato chips were no better or worse then a boutique bag brand. The mussels, however, were very disappointing. After removing a 1/4 cup of minced raw garlic from the serving, the mussels themselves were rubbery with little flavor; some were just inedible. There were several broken shell, unopened and unbearded specimens and an abundance of grit. As the most recent visit was a birthday, we received a complimentary desert of a luscious nut brownie with ice cream. the portion was enough for two. Upscale (scale! Get it?) but no more exciting (and less consistent) then Red Lobster.
