Here's a copy of what I just wrote to Hardee's corporate about the abysmal service I received this morning at the Hardee's on 23rd Street:
--------------------------
I came through the drive-thru this morning and ordered two bacon, egg & cheese biscuits and an orange juice.
When I pulled up to the window, I was handed a container of orange juice that was frozen nearly solid. When I handed it back and asked for one that wasn't frozen, I was handed another one that was just as bad.
After handing the second one back, the fairly surly employee (who not once said anything to me) walked away. A second employee came to the window and explained that all of the orange juice was frozen.
I then asked for a coffee instead and inquired what the price difference was... to no response. Not wanting to keep the rather long line of cars behind me waiting (and it was probably only a matter of pennies), I didn't press the issue.
At this point, the first employee came back and handed me a small coffee. I then asked, politely, for three creams and three sugars... which apparently annoyed her even more as she gave me a very unfriendly look before going back to the refrigerator for the creamers.
At no time during this incident was I offered an apology. In fact, the entire attitude of the main drive-thru employee was rude. To make matters worse, this is the second time in the past two weeks that I have been given a near frozen orange juice at this same store.
I like Hardee's breakfast, but will not be returning to this store again. A store so poorly managed that employees aren't trained to understand that frozen beverages shouldn't be offered to customers, that when something bad does happen to offer an immediate apology, and can't even be bothered to communicate at all with customers is not a business where I feel like spending my money.
I would urge the district manager to take an active interest in the lack of proper management at this store before even more customers are turned away.

1. What in the hell is a post with the name "Hardees" doing in the "Food" section of this forum? I'm complaining to the owner that someone has broken every rule of culinary decency by dragging the enitre Chattanooga Message Forum into the sewer by the mere mention of that name....
And
2. How dare you criticize anyone working for that place? Their employees are likely all project dwellers who probably are the 1st people in the histories of their disfunctional families to enjoy gainfull employment & here you are, A WHITE MALE giving them down the road for just being themselves. If you don't like their non-conformist manners & mannerisms, have the decency to check yourself into a cultural diversity / racial sensitivity remediation clinic ASAP.

I have not been to that Hardees before so, I can't comment but, I have to say there are few fast food places left that seem to have good quality help. Granted the pay probably sucks still you have to have pride where you work regardless IMO. When I go to break on Brainerd Rd I usually bypass it and go out of my way to East Ridge because of the "What do you want" when greated at the drive thru is unacceptable to me. I will say there are some exceptions for instance the heavy set black girl and the thin black girl with braces at McDonalds and Popeyes they are very nice and friendly. Arbys? forget it. I think they just hired one nice girl there...I don't know how long she will last. Wendy's? the same thing. Sonic I like at night but, not during the day. This one girl uses the "N" word every other word. Then there is Steak and Shake at Hamilton Place. The girl sounds nice at the drive-thru (she seems to work every night) then when you get to the window and she says how are you? don't say "fine, how are you?" if you do she will tell you how bad her job sucks and her life is.

I got a response today that said they had forwarded my comment on to the Franchise owner and the Franchise Business Consultant (who I assume is the equivalent of a regional manager). They also said they are mailing me some coupons... which I will be more than happy to use in East Ridge.

My office is at the corner of Dodd's and 23rd St - the old Shields Electronics building. The Hardee's is about half a block away from the building.

I had a similiar issue with the Hardee's on East Brainerd. This is the message I sent them:
Why even have a Hardee's here if you cannot staff it? I normally drive thru this Hardee's on my way to work. It's the best breakfast choice in the area. However, in the past few weeks twice the store was actually closed because they did not have a staff, and have had to go in three times due to the drive thru being closed for some reason or another and today for the second time in a week the girl at the drive thru was totally incompetent. I gave her money (both times) for my order and she gave me back the wrong change (Both times) and was mad at me for causing her inconvenience. Today I drove off and actually had the wrong order and had to drive back and go in to correct it.
The management here needs improvement BAD!!!!
I got the same response from Hardee's corporate office as Gary did. Went back last week because I do enjoy their breakfast and waited in the drive thru line for 10 minutes (only one car ahead of me) before I left.

has it ever occured to any of you to park, turn off the car so it is not spewing emissions into the air, get your butts out and go in so you can keep an eye on the unfortunate people working there at that time of the day to make sure your grease and gristle is formed as you prefer?

I often do go inside if the drive thru line is too long. In fact, the first time I got the frozen OJ was when I was inside.
And the Yum Yum place has long been closed. The weeds have about covered the entire building in fact.

My sister worked as a manger in several fast food chains, so she usually gives them a lot of slack.
Do to the bad service she received, she will never again go to the Hardees on Morrison Springs Road in Red Bank.

The Hardee's in Calhoun and the one on Shallowford are pretty decent, but the chain as a whole has been going sharply downhill since the mid-1970s. Not just the service, but even the food is very dodgy. I'd say you can expect a decent "dining" experience 20% of the time at any given location in Chatt or metro Atlanta.

Some of my fondest fast food memories are from back in the 70's going to the old Hardee's on Hwy 58. That was back in the days when they had a charcoal broiler in the back of the kitchen area and you could see the burgers being grilled over an open flame. As soon as you walked into the place you were engulfed by the heady aroma of meat cooking on the fire. I miss those Hardee's burgers. They were the best in the business back then.

You should have opted for "Yum Yum To Go." Nope ... he should have gone to Rembrandt's Coffee House for some more than decent coffee, orange juice, and a delicious breakfast sandwich, with several choices of breads, meats, and cheeses. (plug, plug).

You know how disagreeable French waitresses are ... they act as if they are doing you a favour, if they bring you something!

Followup - still haven't received any coupons.
I tried stopping by the Hardee's in East Ridge near I-75 the other morning. Ten cars sitting in line without any discernable movement and a crowd of people inside. So, I went to the next-door McDonald's and was through the drivethru within five minutes... while the Hardee's line may have moved two cars, at the most.
Apparently, 23rd Street isn't the only slow Hardee's in town.
