If I heard correctly the Ankers site has been purchased by a flooring retailer, or something like that.

What a trip down memory lane. I remember most of these At the time that movie was filmed in the old Bush restaurant, I was good friends with the owner's family and was able to get a part in that movie... I was a nurse in the parade. I'll look for the pics.

I remember Duff's on Lee Highway. Wasn't there a Duff's in Red Bank too? It was in the building that is now a Sav-A-Lot. Also, farther north in Red Bank was a chain steak house next to where the Krystal is. It was a Sizzler or Western Sizzlin or something along that line.

Trucks at the Jubalee City/indoor flea market/Target/indoor flea market again were most likely removing the indoor storage units that were inside.I hear the airport is going to tear down the building and extend the runway.

Hey...no discussion of old restaurants in Chattanooga would be complete without mentioning Roy Peppers Porch. How many remember the original Roy’s in Hixson (before it moved the Wal-Mart shopping center complex) in the office bldg opposite the Red Lobster on Northgate Park Road (Northgate Mall)? Who remembers the flower pot bread and rosin baked potatoes? Not to mention the copper clad tables and the fact that it was always pitch dark in the place! The place has good food and more than it fair share of unique “regulars”.

I remember that place. I used to work in one of the office building next door and we used to go there for lunch. Seems like before they moved they stopped opening for lunch. Loved that bread and potatoes!

Sort of a restaurant---anyone recall the "Silver Scoop Ice Cream Shoppe" in Brainerd Village? It expanded to Hixson, the Farmer's Market AND Lookout's Home Games before going out of business. Ron & Sue Whitmire were the owners. THE BEST ICE CREAM I ever had/made.

Roy Peppers Porch
I was trying to remember the name of that place. I sorta lost it's oomph after moving to the new location.

Sort of like The Peddler. They were always packed - then they moved to the top of the Uptain Building. Downhill after that. I used to love the old location, where Sweet Basil is now.

Seems like that Duff's on Lee Highway was also something else - same style, different name. Was it Stacey's Buffet? I also recall it being called something else sometime during it's existence.

Is Dubb's (I think that was the name) still open in Red Bank?

My memory of Duff's: A co-worker and I were eating at the Brainerd location when the lights go out for a short while and then come back on. My co-worker yells out, "Turn the lights back off. The food looked better then." There's still a Duff's Smorgasbord in Pigeon Forge.

My favorite old restaurants were Leonards on Brainerd Rd., Shakey's Pizza Parlor, and The Rathskeller downtown. Miss 'em all.

I really loved the old player piano at Shakey's Pizza Parlor in Memphis. They had row after row of long tables so you could get to know strangers while dining and windows to the kitchen so you could see every bit of your pizza being made.

Is Dubb's (I think that was the name) still open in Red Bank? Yes, it is. The new owners, I think are going to have it open year 'round. Was there the other night and had a Chocolate dip. Still mighty fine!

Leonard's ruled. A frequent stop in my college years. Also Scrappy's, David's and the old Brass Register. And... later... The Loft. Great happy hour memories.

And don't forget the Tiki Hut, and across the road, the Rustic Room - now the North Chatta Cat. Also, the Pump Room at the old Howard Johnson's downtown on 21 st Street. And the bar under the old Pancake Man on the ridge. Oh yeah....Pasquales on Ringgold Rd. And one of my favorites - Gregory's Bar-B-Que on Dayton Blvd. Geez I am old.

"the bar under the old Pancake Man". Wasn't it called the Red Fox? I'm getting old, too! There was a Harlan Field's Pancake Man and Red Fox Lounge on Two Mile Parkway between Hendersonville and Goodlettesville (north of Nashville) at the same time the we had them here @ King's Lodge. I worked there in Goodlettseville during the early 70's, met Conway Twitty and his wife, as well as other country stars. At the same time I worked a second gig at a boutique in Rivergate Mall. The boss lady told me not to allow Brenda Lee to try on colthes because she didn't wear panties.

Okay heres a few I remember: The Tick Tock (I can't remember if was East Ridge near Tunnels or Brainerd near the Tunnels; I was a kid). They had a cool sign. Los Charros (The road from broad street that goes to Tiftonia {I think Wauhatchie?}); They also had one later in Ft. O. They had a real cool dessert (Can't remember the name of it), but you poured warm honey in this shell type type thing.

Last year my Daughter tried to make a go with the old Roys in Rossville but it was a bust!

I waitressed at the Sail Maker (Sailmaker?) on Brainerd Road. GIGANTE salad bar atop a boat in the middle of the place. Everyone had to create their own character--I was Super Girl. My co-workers included Mork from Ork, Tommy Smothers and Robin (as in Batman's sidekick). GOOD times!
