March 22,2007 The Chattanooga police department, Officer Thomas Buttry and former officer Daniel Hooton feel RELIEF after winning a federal trial. Steven Myres filed a *civil rights* lawsuit claiming false arrest, malicious prosecution and excessive force, but the jury didn't buy his claim. Myres and former officer Daniel Hooton had a contentious history over several years. Myres says Hooton harassed him repeatedly with traffic stops and viciously beat him in 2002. This case stretched over six days but the jury ruled in favor of Hooton, officer Buttry and the department in only an hour and a half. Assistant Chief Mike Williams said, "It's good to know that the jury system and the juries do listen to our side and this particular one ruled for the officers."
