A former Chattanooga police chief made the latest cut in the running for police chief of Austin, Texas. According to reports, Jimmie Dotson is on the list of nine candidates to fill the vacant position. Dotson took over in Chattanooga in 1997 and served for seven years. He was previously the executive assistant chief of police for Houston. The statement from Austin says Dotson is currently a law enforcement consultant with more than 30 years of experience. It lists his current address as The Woodlands, Texas.
