APRIL 9th, 2007
Early this morning, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office investigated its second traffic fatality of the year. The single vehicle crash occurred in the 13400 block of highway 27 in the Sale Creek area at 12:24 am. The 1995 Toyota Camry was being driven by a 24 year old white female. Also in the passenger side of the vehicle was a 29 year old white female from Cleveland Ohio. The passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital by Life Force. She is currently in ICU at Erlanger and her condition is unknown at this time.
The vehicle was north bound at the time of the crash and left the roadway on the east shoulder. It then struck the guardrail and went airborne. The top of the vehicle impacted a telephone pole, slightly wrapping around the pole before coming to rest on the ground. Both individuals were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
According to a witness, the vehicle passed him at a high rate of speed and was being driven in an erratic manner. The witness did not see any brake lights prior to the vehicle striking the guardrail and pole.
Deputy George Delker is the primary investigator in this case. It was found that neither of the females were wearing a seat belt. Alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors in this crash and charges are pending against the driver. There is no release of either victim’s identity at this time. As soon as I learn there identities, I will be releasing them to you.
