Former cop who had sex in patrol car fights to get job back
Seth Seymour
April 9, 2007 - 9:12PM A Chattanooga police sergeant fired two years ago for having sex in his patrol car is now suing to get his job back. Patrick Welles says he was fired because he's black, not because of the sex. In a lawsuit filed Monday, he says white officers have committed acts just as bad, if not worse. But those officers, he says, still have their jobs. Welles is suing the police department, its former chief and the city. The lawsuit says he was fired "because of race" -- not because of what he did during a lunch break in 2005. Former police chief Steve Parks fired Welles then for having sex in his police car with a 19-year-old female sports-bar employee. The lawsuit considers the firing a double standard. "Welles was treated differently than white police officers at the police department," Welles' lawyer Stuart James said. The lawsuit says "white police officers" have committed similar, if not more severe, offenses than Welles did. Among those, it mentioned "rape, masturbation in public, sexual harassment, domestic assault" and more. But according to the lawsuit, those "white officers remained on the force."

So this guy is willing to put many other officers "on trial" in order to weasel as much green poultice out of the taxpayers as he & his "lawyers" can haul away in oversized wheelbarrows as fast as they can?
This looks like he & his legal team have schemed up a way to get a pre-trial payoff in exchange for keeping their mouths shut if the complaint is settled ....

Have I mentioned how I loathe the "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So I Am Innocent" defense?

Refer to prior threads about the City Attorneys office opening 'floodgates' of some kind.
___
I know the guy, and I like him. We veered off Friendship Lane when his lawyer named me and another officer is some off-the-wall completely manufactured not-even-rated-as-gossip shit in front of the City Council and my Chief, and I accepted an apology on the forum in lieu of legal action because I think lawsuits are for BITCHES in general, but this too is almost as surprising.
He is now INDEED putting other officers on trial--'white' ones specifically according to his statement--because he felt it was unfair that he got fired for HAVING SEX WITH A STRIPPER IN THE PARKING LOT OF A BAR IN A MARKED POLICE CAR IN UNIFORM ON DUTY as a SUPERVISOR (!!!) whereas there is no other case to contrast it to because no other supervisor, black white yellor or red, has been INVESTIGATED for HAVING SEX WITH A STRIPPER IN THE PARKING LOT OF A BAR IN A MARKED POLICE CAR IN UNIFORM ON DUTY as a SUPERVISOR.
If he makes shit up or drags me into it, an 'apology for his lawyers confusion' will NOT work this time. Are you reading this, Pat? From the head of a police union with legal access F. Lee. Bailey would nod in approval at? Be cool, man, and I hope the crucifiction of your former brother officers gets you somewhere. SOMETHING good needs to come of it, since so many people (read: One or more is all it takes) are going to apparently take a hit because you didn't think it was reasonable to be fired for HAVING SEX WITH A STRIPPER IN THE PARKING LOT OF A BAR IN A MARKED POLICE CAR IN UNIFORM ON DUTY as a SUPERVISOR (!!!).
Do let me know how this works out for you, if I'm not in the courtroom that is. JESUS, dude. I thought you were getting your life on track, not derailing others. What the fuck.
