Stacks are signs that you actually work at your desk I don't understand folks that must have the constant clear desk. There's a chief underwriter at Unum that has absolutely NOTHING on his desk. No calc, no files, no pens, no paper. Nothing. Just his PC. I'm about the most paper-less person I know when it comes to my work, but even I actually USE my case files. I never figured out how he worked without any supporting documentation.

All the stuff is on the PC - you do not need to print every bleeding email. I do my work on my computer and only actually need to print something about once a quarter. There is also deskspace when I need it because it is not hidden under a compost heap.

It would be nice if insurance brokers would take some classes on putting things in .pdf format. We'd all be better off, and then it really would "all be on the PC." Our industry is held back on the technology curve by folks that won't get with the 21st century. You know, those "old pasty white guys" I'm always railing against I still have brokers that handwrite census information (spreadsheet of date of birth, gender, occupation, salary info, etc) and then mail it to us.

When my Ex-Boss was 'redecorating' his office, I over heard some of the conversations with the furniture people. They were trying to talk him into a desk that pretty much looked like a glass top table. The salesman said that "A desk with no drawers implies POWER!" Apparently, those who don't have to fuss with papers have the "Power" over us peons who have to shuffle through the stuff on a daily basis. Da Boss almost bought the table.
I hated that man.
I hated him with a purple passion.
That jack ass is the reason I started my own business so I would never, EVER have to brown nose some brainless dick wad ever again.
I heard he died not long after I quit/got fired. If I knew where he was burried, I'd go defile his grave.

There is a blast from the past Ms Scarlett - I remember when you had that job...
99.7% of the mess you see around the office is stuff that never needed to be printed. There are folks that print Powerpoint presentations and there is NO excuse for that. We in IT make all these systems to bring people information and then they have to have it on paper...
That isn't a "neat nut" thing - it is a "green" thing.
Bloody treekillers...

Grrrr......It drives me crazy too.... People who get emails and print them just so that they can read them better.....or more likely...so they can put 'em closer to their eyes since they're unwilling to put on glasses.....
They just don't care about all the trees they kill. They just care about their own selves....

The owner of my most recent former company did that. He also took up three office rooms with all his clutter and printed papers.

One of the rewarding things about ads on a message board page is seeing the connections the ad software makes regarding the interests of different forums. I don't know what everybody else sees at the top of this page, but I see an ad for an outfit that designs neat closets.

I have plenty of "Adult Friends". The problem is that they are all quite childish. Oh well. My life is more interesting this way.

Sounds an interesting photo contest!
BTW - They'll lock you up if you go looking for "child friends"
