Sticky Fingers Restaurants are joining with the Chattanooga Police Department during the month of September to showcase some of the department's equipment and capabilities.
Each Wednesday evening during September CPD will feature the SWAT Team, Bomb Squad, Traffic Division (Motorcycles) and the K-9 units at the Hamilton Place and Hixson Stores on a rotating basis.
The hours for display will be 5 pm to 8 pm.
This week the Traffic Division will have a display at the Hamilton Place Store. In return, Sticky Fingers will donate a percentage of their proceeds on Wednesday nights to the Police Departments to enhance Training for officers in the region.
The downtown Sticky Fingers will participate in the sharing of sales but will not have a display due to space constraints near their store.

For a good time, call 698-2525. Wednesday evening, 09/03/2008 Officers Ford and Hogan (the Irish guy?) represented the traffic division at this evening’s deal at Sticky Fingers on highway 153. It would have made for a good Notta event. I looked for familiar faces. They brought with them a shiny, old (1997) Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a truck with equipment used for accident investigation. I spoke first with officer Ford, and after ten minutes or so, pointed at Hogan and said, “Now it’s your turn. Tell me what you do.” He responded with, “The same thing he [Ford] does”, but I didn’t let him off the hook that easy. With just a little prompting, he opened up and began describing his duties. I asked him about some of the equipment he carried on his belt. He told me about his taser and reaffirmed that he had to BE tasered before being allowed to carry the device. He also showed me an extendable “club” (is that the right term? I forget) and said he’d been hit with that in practice too although being hit apparently isn’t a requirement. Then I asked him about the pistol. We both grinned. About that time came a deep rumble and blue lights around the corner of Sticky Fingers as Officer Warren showed up in the 1988 Ford Mustang Coupe he uses at the drag strip to encourage high school kids to do their racing at the strip and not on the street. I think he said it was a 302 bored (or stroked?) out to 347 and it required 110-octane gasoline. How about 0 to 60 in sub-three seconds?!? I figured out a way I can beat him at the strip with my stock 2003 Civic, though. On the back of the Mustang, there’s a very visible “ON / OFF” switch, so all I’d have to do is run around behind him before the green light hit … The sign on the back of the Mustang had the URL, www.BeatTheHeatInc.org (capitalization mine). Spouse (actually) came along (gasp!). She wanted Ford and Hogan to write Warren a ticket for loud mufflers. (They weren’t that loud, and the engine sounded SOOO good. Guys know what I mean with the very high performance cam.) Warren said he’d had to hustle because the transmission was laying on the floor this morning. Atta boy, Warren. A sergeant showed up too, but I’ve heard about sergeants, so I pretty much left him alone, and he returned the favor. Actually, I think they’re all communists because I offered each of them a barbecue sandwich, and they all turned it down. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken a bite first. I did talk spouse out of offering them some doughnuts. Really. Various divisions of the CPD will be at the Sticky Fingers locations on Highway 153 and at Hamilton Place for the next few Wednesday evenings. I recommend taking the time to meet the guys. They’re making the effort. Can’t you do the same?

I speak, of course, in jest, being one of the aforementioned miscreants.
