On 09-23-08 at 1022 hours, a possible burglary/assault occurred on Bell Brook Ave in the highway 58 area.
The elderly victims stated that she heard the door bell ring and answered the door to find a white male standing there. The W/M was very well spoken and very polite. He was wearing a reflective vest and claimed to work for a power company.
He told her that he needed her to show him where her property line was because they were going to be putting new underground lines in and were going to have to dig the ground up.
The victim went outside and walked around the yard with the w/m for several minutes, the w/m’s two-way beeped and the white male answered it and he then took off running.
The other elderly victim was inside the house during these events. He stated that he was in the den when he heard someone yelling “anyone home”. He went to see who was there when he found a white male standing in his bedroom.
The white male had a white towel in his hand and looked very “crazy”, the victim grabbed the white male and tried to hold him, but the w/m just pushed him off and ran out the door.
The two w/m subjects get into a black or dark colored SUV with dark windows. The vehicle possibly had out of state tags.
Last week CPD asked for the media to alert the elderly on 2 w/m’s who were posing as carpet salesmen, it is possible these are the same two subjects that were using the carpet scam last week. The description matches and the vehicle matches. Also, the area was the same for the carpet scam.
There is very limited information on the two white males. They are described as 25-30 years old, one wearing a reflective vest and the other wearing a white t-shirt and khaki pants.
We are asking for help in alerting elderly residents of this scam, this could possible be the same two and they have changed their MO.
