Tuesday, October 07, 2008 Chattanooga Police are working on identifying a suspect from a bank robbery this morning. The Suntrust Bank located at 3535 Brainerd Road was robbed at 9:51 today after a white or light complexioned man entered the store and told the teller to hand over $2000 in 20 dollar bills. Although he didn’t show a weapon, he told her that if she complied no on would get hurt. The suspect is described as a white male or possible light complexioned male wearing jeans and a dark shirt. The suspect was spotted moments after the robbery at the Walgreens on Germantown Rd leaving with a barefoot white female wearing a tan shirt and brown capris. The suspects were said to have left in a red car. Anyone with information on these suspects is encouraged to call Chattanooga Police at 698-2525 or the FBI Safe Streets Task Force at 265-3601. Sgt Jerri Weary, PIO Chattanooga Police Department

One of our sales people was turning into the dive shop across the street as a bevy of police cruisers came screaming from all directions towards the bank. Kinda freaked him out.
Oh, and that's my bank branch, too.

They should have closed that branch 15+ years ago, but it was kept open thanks to the wonderful community investment regs ....
Using that ATM (daylight or night) was an invitation to get mugged & robbed ....

Didn't they just hit Family Dollar across the street the day before?
I agree about that branch. It's the only one near me that has an ATM (the one on 3rd at Dodson probably just won't dare...) and even though I use it just for depositing checks and rarely take out cash, I'm always on Red Alert.

Got the pics to work. can anybody tell what kind of shirt he's wearing? there is one pic that makes me think he walked into the 1stTN down the street before he hit Suntrust. But all but one pic makes me think the guy is Hispanic Not white.
And again, Why dont they spend the money and Hire an armed guard? then all three banks at that intersection would have an armed guard.

When the bank tried that very thing, "community organizers" cried racism & they, like so many institutions cowarded by that accusation, dropped the guards -- thank the "organizers" for the anarchy ....

Wasn't aware of that -- my info from bank security people is probably too dated.

I doubt that is the real reason. It comes down to a simple fact of budget cuts.
the biggest problem we run across is when the bank decides that it has to cut a departments budget. and unfortunatly the armed guards get cut simply b/c the bean counters do not see a financial return on the expense of having an armed guard.
I've seen places drop an armed guard for an unarmed guard. (that was at mary walker towers) and I've seen places hire ONLY unarmed guards (Boyton towers).
