City of Chattanooga Public Works employees stumbled upon a body today while clearing brush for a gas line.
Chattanooga Police were notified of the event just after 3 pm and responded to a wooded area behind a clubhouse for the Villages of the Greenway located off Mountain Creek Road . The body is female. Police are waiting to confirm her ID after the Medical Examiner’s report.
The manner of death is unknown but will also be determined during the M.E.’s examination. When more information becomes available, it will be released.

The body of a woman found yesterday off of Mountain Creek Road has been identified as 54-year-old Virginia Rowley. Rowley was reported missing back on September 22, 2008, to the Red Bank Police Department. Police are still awaiting the manner of death as to be determined in the Medical Examiner’s report.
