CHATTANOOGA - A $30 million renovation is being eyed at Warehouse Row that could include a new 180-room hotel and a Japanese restaurant. Officials said there could be 213 new jobs created, and the current 150 employees would be retained. Jamestown Properties of Atlanta, in conjunction with the major Warehouse Row improvements, is also looking at acquiring properties from Main Street to 11th Street to help enhance the Southside area. Those include refurbishing derelict properties across from the Chattanooga Choo Choo, officials said. The firm plans to remove all the green canopies at Warehouse Row and retrofit and clean the exterior to the building. Warehouse Row is a collection of old warehouse buildings along South Market Street that earlier were converted as an upscale mall. www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_119827.asp

Screw the renovation - try getting shops in there for a change. I think they are down to about three.

A $30 million dollar investment.
THAT is JUST what the goddamn failure of a cracker box needs.
Exactly what I was thinking, SERIOUSLY.

Once upon a time Warehouse Row was great.... loved it. But now there are no shops in the warehouse.... lots of walking space and office space. If I wanted an office in the mall then I'd find a product to peddle and get a kiosk.
This hotel idea may not be so bad....

Hey...if they make it a Theme Park, it could do WONDERS for bringing in out of towners: Japanese restaurant, Karate studio, Geisha room with massages, add "room service" and I predict a HUGE success.

No one from the Jamsetown group is from Chattanooga so regardless of what they plan to do in renovating Warehouse Row, it must be a bad thing given the provincial standards that are being set over at Stringers Ridge....

Damn the capitalists, especially from out of town! They are going to ruin everything! How dare they put their money at risk and create new jobs! How dare they! Government should put a stop to this at once! Only government can solve problems and create solutions! Only government can create new jobs!
Jeez...

Kordax is right. We should just let the homeless move in there. Then they'd have a home, therefore we'd have no homeless in town.

I still favor the theme park. Nothing beats a back massage by the feet of a 90 pound Geisha...
